Spent a week & 5 rolls of film shooting with my new M4-P & 28mm Color Skopar. Discovered I LOVED the camera. Smooth, light, quiet, you know all the rest... Don't like the Color Skopar so much. Have never used or liked a 28mm lens, so I guess I'll try to make a deal for a 50mm. Can't wait to shoot more. Happy! Happy!

The -P gets a bad wrap on here. I could never understand why -- I love mine, but it's a really early one and I think it has brass gears/top plate, but I'm not positive...

I wouldn't say it gets a bad rap, most M4-p users that I've talked to tend to really like it. I know I do. It's not as exquisitely smooth as some other Ms but it's somehow just a great shooter. The major drawback for me is excessive flare in the viewfinder. I'm pretty happy that they're so underrated, I was able to get mine for a pretty good price (for a Leica).

What`s not to like about the M4-P ? Better finish and less prone to flare VF than the later M6 (not to forget the old-style frame lines of the M4-P) but newer than the Wetzlar build cameras, which are quite often worn out ("butter-soft" film advance ...) and / or in the need for service.

The M4-P is a real shooter camera, enjoy yours ! :)
