I have re-invested heavily in Hasselblad. A 503CXi and 501CM with several lenses... basically two complete kits. I'm going to see if I can make a market for b&w hand-processed and wet-print weddings again... something different in this super-saturated HDR world of cheap digital weddings.
The ad for my M8 is here there's a link in the ad to both some images taken with the M8 and of the M8 itself. It's kind of an unusual one.

My M8.2 is at Solms for the coffeestain but I really love it and it's output. I can exchange it it for it's newer brothers but somehow after weeks I still didn't decide if I take it back or if I get the newer body.
Here some of the Street portraits that i took with it and that make me wonder if I get that feel back with the newer bodies.

Pfff strange that parting of this camera gives me such a hard time.

Thank you. I am quite fortunate to have been able to own and use it. I would really prefer to keep it, but finances dictate that I can't keep the M9P and the M8 and the Hasselblad gear.

Thank you Helen. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed this one! Honestly, if it doesn't sell for my exorbitant asking price, I'll keep it and find another way to pay for the Hassy gear. I really like it that much.

That's one hell of a camera, Roger. Best of luck with MF-I've dabbled in it, but never gotten the results I wanted. I'm finally trying my hand at 4x5 next month for an architecture documentation class, though.

Thought I'd share a few shots from an amazingly sunny day yesterday--
Nothing too stunning, but I had a lot of fun on its shakedown run with my vintage glass (first two with the 25 Skopar, second two Canon 50 1.4), especially shooting exclusively digital and color for the first time in years. The BW conversions look great, and low-light is adequate for what I need these days, since I rarely go above EI 800. It's particularly useful in the evening when i can't see my M5's metering window, want AE, and don't have the patience for AF to hunt around. This is definitely a keeper. the shutter is noisier than I want, but that discreet mode makes up for it.

Takin congrats on your M8
I have had mine almost a year now and love it, I shoot DNG-Jpg with jpg set to b&w. I got a corrective uv filter but haven't used it yet I am happy with my results so far. I use pro master 4gb sad cards and have no problems so far.
I take it everywhere with me and have a blast using it. I only have a 35 summicron for it so far but I will probably try a CV lens in the future for a little wider view.
hepcat that is a beautiful reverse panda you have there.
I was also a USN PH from 89-94 good times

I really like that M8. I'm really struggling with selling it. Good luck with your shot at 4x5. Sheet film isn't on my list of favorite things, but I've shot and processed enough of it over the years. Great stuff with your new M8 btw! Keep on shootin'!

what I like about the m8
1-a softer' look' than the 'Hyper Realism' in a majority of digital photography Today
it suits my style better though it could be a tad sharper (maybe its my eyes that are going)
2-easy no frill menu...!
3-focusing with a RF
the cons of the M8
1- limited iso capability 1250 is hit or miss , must be more advanced in pP skills to straddle 'noise' into a thing of Beauty
2- you really need faaaaast glass like the nokton 1.1 if you really want to partake of night shooting....for me 1.5 doesn't always make it / now i will have to sell my summatit to get a nokton, arghhhhh
3- even though this shutter was upgraded it still has a bit of a clunk sound, I hear the sirens of a film body calling

That is a lovely portrait, Helen. It is a little soft though. I wonder how much of that softness comes from your Summarit?
Rangefinders have ALWAYS been about fast glass. Fast glass reduces the "need" for high ISOs. Get the Nokton f/1.1, but keep your Summarit. The Nokton is pretty large (comparatively speaking) to tote around daily if you don't need it. I had both the f/1.5 and f/1.1 versions at the same time and made the dire mistake of selling the f/1.5 thinking I would just use the f/1.1. I don't.
My recommendation would be to keep the Summarit and try to find a Nokton 35mm f/1.2 v1. I also have one of those, and it is my go-to lens on the M8. It's a little larger than the f/1.5 lenses, but not as large as the f/1.1 and on the M8 gives the 50mm FOV that you're used to. My carry 'round setup with the M8 is the CV Ultron 28 f/2, the 35mm Nokton f/1.2, and the 75mm Heliar f/1.8. It's a light-weight, but effective triad that gives the traditional 35-50-90 FOV combo.
I don't usually shoot above ISO 800 with any camera. I shot this night scene hand-held with the Nokton f/1.5 at 1/15 at ISO 160 with the M9P last summer. I didn't record the aperture, but it was probably around f/2 or so. I find that low-light shooting takes a little more work perhaps, but is absolutely do-able.

The shutter sound isn't that of a III body (or even the M4-P,) but it just sounds like a Copal vertical focal plane shutter sounds. Shoot with it a while and give yourself the opportunity to get used to it. You'll soon find that it's really not that objectionable to you, and your subjects in front of the camera won't notice it at all. If it really annoys you, you can set it to "discrete." Some folks say that helps... I don't find it much different. Having shot cameras like the Besseler Topcon Super D, the RB-67, and Hasselblads for years, a 35mm Copal metal focal plane IS pretty quiet to me. <grin>

I have the Nokton 1.1 which I used widely with the M8. It works well, but I wouldn't exactly call the combination a night time setup, as you'll not really want to shoot past 640 ISO.
The 35/1.4 Nokton works just as well really, as will your Summarit, and this is why
The real deal, when shooting in low light, is to combo a max iso of 640, 1/30th shutter with an f stop of 1.4 or 1.1, and set the EV to underexpose, then shoot on RAW only.
The raw files are really really flexible, you can push the files easily 3 stops in black and white. I have photos I've taken that are practically black, then you push the raw file's shadows and you have a totally useable photo.
The reason you don't want to use 1250, 2500, is the noise is a huge jump up from 640, which is totally usable. If you try and push a 1250 file just 2 stops you'll get tons of artifacts. You can push a 640 file 3 stops and have way less noise. I do this all the time.
