Wet behind the ears with the 15mm Heliar

I had the opportunity to purchase the CV 15mm lens secondhand here at the RFF, and have had a chance to put some decent film through my camera. I love this thing.

It'll take me a while to figure out when and when not it is appropriate to use the camera for a given situation, but this lens helps tell the story I want to tell with my photos of buildings and inanimate objects.

The tagging means the list will grow as time goes on, but I just wanted to share.

The lens seems to pull out the full tone range of the film.. Or at least better than most of my other lenses.

I've always wanted to see that movie... I should rent it since my wife is outta town and I don't have any plans for the evening.

I like mine. Had to teach myself to get verticals either straight or well off kilter, no easy task with the distortion in the viewfinder.
Anyhow, it goes everywhere with me.

Personally, I never had much problem with the obvious distortion in the viewfinder. The majority of the distorsion appears to be barrel distortion, and does not affect the horizontal aspect of the framing. This is just my experience, YMMV. My problem is that I frequently take inadvertant pictures of my shoes when I turn the camera edgewise.

Shot by a truly exceptional (double Oscar winner) DoP Freddie Francis, I doubt he could have shot his native England with more love and affection...

The film may not be to everyone's taste but the eye-candy is exceptional.

Agreed, excellent stuff for a first outing. I use the 12 a lot (need to due to the R-D1's crop) and love it equally, particularly for perspective. You have to learn how to use its distortion...
