Had the complete opposite of what many people who have a camera w/ film had happen to them when someone is surprised they cannot see the image back immediately...
"What a beautiful camera that is! (X100)
But... where does the film go???"

Well, I don't think that "silver" is appropriate for color film....French call argentique vs numerique. This is good for me.

"Malleable." Used only by M Monochrom people - and primarily to justify what for film users would be an unreasonable amount of post-processing.

Often said at my Photo Evaluation Group when a photo that no one likes enough to comment on or suggest how it might possibly be improved, comes up on the screen.

While shooting in the Smokies, a photographer with the latest D-something camera tells me how it has twice the dynamic range of the film in my 'dinosaur' of a Hasselblad 500C/M, and then, 'Well, I'm off to HDR this barn'.

Sorry to say it has come to this. I can mean anything these days, just like "Chef"

Just yesterday I shot some location portraits with my Nikon F5 and one of the subjects asked if she could see them on the camera ? I tried to explain that film doesn't work like that.

Granted, a Nikon F5 does look reasonably like a DSLR from the other end.

Ouch, although it goes by the common adage of "not saying anything at all" when it's bad, it's still counterproductive to the whole process.
I've actually been looking for a group locally. Aside from the issue above, how good/bad is yours?

I know, but it must be a generational thing. She was fully aware I was shooting film. HP5+. :bang:

"Hey babe, what was the film I put in the camera last week?"

I was reading a thread on reddit, and the OP telling the stor diverged into accidentally breaking their camera:
"And I ended up breaking my Nikon DSLR but that was okay because I hate Nikon and everything they make is ****."
And went on with the story. Methinks they haven't seen much of the D4.

Oh, another:
"Nice camera, man." Always said in passing, or on transit, etc; occasionally when they're standing in front of me blocking a shot. Usually in reference to my duct-taped and superglued Bronica, or when my very beat up Leica is hanging out of my pocket.
Maybe I'm just antisocial, but what exactly is the point of telling me this non-fact?

-My father/uncle/grandfather used to have one of those. (And... Should I guess the rest of the story?)
-Is that a film camera? (Koni-Omega - um, yeah.)
Can you still buy film? (No, it's empty. I just love the sound of wind and shutter.)
-Is that a Leica? (No, it's a Canon rangefinder. "Oh" and walks away.)
-Oh, I just threw out a bunch of old film and cameras! (I just cried a little on the inside.)
-Where can you still get film developed? (You don't have a film camera and you only use iPhone. Why are you asking?)
Now, what have heard that I like:
-That was my first camera, I travelled across the country with it after I graduated (Olympus 35RC)
-That camera reminds me of when I was a child and my uncle worked in Dubai came back to our village in India and took our pictures. (Minolta Autocord)
-I think these pictures look better in black and white. (From my wife.)
-I'm purging. Here is a box of cameras and film that was just sitting around. You can have it.

ok, for some of you photography is work, but for me it's fun only, just doesn't feel like work, not even a bit.
