What are you listening to at the moment?

Ruggiero Raimondi as Scarpia in the Te Deum scene of Puccini's Tosca, filmed at the Theatine Church, as per the original setting.

As Andrea Pappano recently described Puccini, a Wagnerian but with the full expression of his Italianita...

Beethoven Soantas Brendel, 1960s recordings, op 106 and 111 and then two early sonatas. Richter also played the early sonatas so intensely and seemed never to play the set of anything. Two pianists who had a fanatical following for their live performances.

New (to me), but I've had Wu-gazi's 13 Chambers on heavy rotation right now and I'm apparently 8 years late on this mash-up of Fugazi and Wutang (I'm old, so it's OK). Brilliant stuff to say the least since I'm not a fan of Fugazi.

At the other end of music spectrum I still have Yann Tierson on modest rotation, mainly because his soundtrack work is still specacular.

“Blue and Lonesome” album by the Rolling Stones. Double LP, three tracks per side. At times it sounds like it was recorded in mono, as the sound harkens back to a 1950’s sound.

Julius Wechter & The Baja Marimba Band
“The Baja Marimba Band Rides Again”
A&M Records SP-4109 (Recorded 1965)

All the best,
Mike

I've had "I Can't Be With You" by the Cranberries as an earworm for a week or so. Been watching Derry Girls on 'Flix, so that probably explains it.
