Keola and Kapono Beamer - Honolulu City Lights

Every time I hear this song it brings back so many memories. I went to elementary school in Hawaii. I was stationed in Hawaii more than once when I was in the Navy. I have no desire to ever go back there but the memories are strong and good especially when I listen to "Honolulu City Lights".

All the best,
Mike

@Out to Lunch, your Steve Reich link reminded me of some vinyl I have in my basement of that work and other's of his, and brings back some great memories.

In the same vein, it also jogged my memory of other great music in that ambient, pulse, minimalism genre: David Borden and Mother Mallard was one of them.

This is a nice piece. Ambient, relaxing...

David Borden - The Continuing Story of Counterpoint, Pt. 9

Thanks, raydm6 for sharing David Borden. Yep, that was the groove during my later university years. Just before I left Europe to take up a job in Indonesia, I got hooked on Glenn Gould and The Goldberg Variations:

One of my favorite albums to listen to when I'm doing house chores is:

The Brass Ring – The Evolution Of The Brass Ring (released in 1969)
Format: Vinyl LP (I copied it onto a CD-R then put it on my IPOD)

Track list
1 - I'll Never Fall In Love Again
2 - Spinning Wheel
3 - True Grit (this is my favorite song on the album)
4 - Don't Leave Me
5 - Jumpin' Jack
6 - Stormy
7 - Days Like These
8 - It's Getting Better
9 - Theme From Last Summer
10- Love Theme From Romeo & Juliet
11- Cinnamon Bay
12- Yesterday When I Was Young

Instrumental pop music is great stuff to listen to while washing the dishes, making the bed and folding the laundry.

Last night (not right now, sorry) I listened to various selections from the Beatles albums "Rubber Soul", "Revolver", "White" and "Let It Be". What great music those guys made!

I was working in Kuwait at the time and often had to drive to the Saudi border -a very long perfectly straight road in the desert, and we'd blast this album over and over singing along at the top of our voices. Cheers, OtL
