I've used Nikon and Canon. Of the two, Nikon is the better system (JMHO), but I doubt that I'd ever buy another DSLR.

I think once someone gets into a particular brand it becomes very difficult to swap out completely to another brand. I started with Nikon almost by chance but as I now have any number of high quality Nikon lenses and accessories it would be a major production number to change. But I must admit I would be interested in trying Canon as some of their lenses loook very appealing. (Still I realise this is the case of "another mans grass is always greener.) I still have my first Nikon DSLR - a D80s in addition to a D200. My next purchase is likely to be a D300. I might even make the transition to full frame although this would mean disposing of some DX lenses.

I also have a Panasonic L1 with a couple of Panasonic/ Leica and Olympus lenses that I find is nice to use from time to time. Often I will carry both my M8 and a DSLR and then use which ever one best suits the moment. (oy vey my aching back!)

I started my photographic life about 35 years ago with a black Canon FT with a 55mm 1.2 lens. Then I moved up to an F1. Started assisting a NYC pro who shot Nikons and made the switch and never looked back....F, F2 F3HP. Then to digital.....D70, D90 and now a D7000

Well it was Nikon until

Well it was Nikon until

Well it was Nikon F's until they were stolen in a burglary Now Its all Canon from RF ,FD,Eos film and dslr

Nowadays, a Nikon D40 is my only DSLR.

My first SLR was a Canon TLb, though. I sold it and got the first of several Nikon F and F2 cameras in 1980. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I acquired another Canon, an F1n, just to be able to use a 17mm lens.

Oly E-5 and E-620

Oly E-5 and E-620

Oly has very nice glass and the best JPEG engine around in a reasonable sized package.
I'll stick with this combo until a mFT camera with a good internal EVF appears on the scene allowing me to downsize even more.

Nikon D300 and nikkors (mostly: 24-70 f2.8)
And always nikons for film: F90x, FM2n, F50.
Strangely enough, i do not use nikon rf... Hummmm

If I borrow my daughter's DSLR I use Canon. If I borrow my son's DSLR I use Nikon. If I use my own film SLR's I can use Canon, Keystone, Mamiya, Minolta, Nikon, Pentax, Praktica, Ricoh, Rolleiflex, and Sears in alphabetical order. I personally don't own a DSLR!

I've been a Nikon shooter for a long time. Recently traded my D700 and gear for a Canon 5DII kit.

D700 was faster in operation and focus, better-built, and meters a bit better...BUT...the 5D2 is a bit more compact, lots lighter, great for big enlargements, and has video, which I'm secretly curious about (insert off-color joke here :)

Still love my M6 most of all, but digital plus SilverEfex has given me back days of my life after trips.

I went Nikon after an AE1program kept letting me down.
f60, f90x, D70, F2, F, Nikkormat FTn, FT2,FT3, F100, FM2n, D700, F4s, F3.
I'm picking up another F100 tomorrow for my film stuff as I just can't focus anymore. I wish I hadn't sold my original one now! So frustrating as I really like using the old manual focus Nikons but now they will become dust collectors.
I will look out for a reasonable F6 but for now it's D700 and F100 in the bag.

Nikon D5000, great little camera.

+1 - great combo with the 35/1.8. Not in either camp - Nikon/Canon or whatever, really. Just liked that combo and got a great deal on a refurb. What is somebody's tagline? So many choices, so little difference. That about sums it up. The thing with this Nikon, I find, is while it might not be the sexiest thing out there looks-wise, it really feels nice in hand, almost like an extension of it, rather than something you're holding. Not sure if this is "by design" or if it's just me. And like all DSLRs it has absolutely zero classic camera charm but is a helluva photographic tool.

My dream DSLR is an Olympus E-5 with full-frame sensor.
But that's not happening,
so I'd settle with a D700 :)

Canon D1n whatever. It's now two generations old and still works just fine. Another shooter in the office has a Nikon D2H - been repaired twice. Not saying Canon is better, just our experience. I think Canon focuses faster, he thinks Nikons do. I still have a closet full of Nikon manual focus cameras and lenses; take them out every now and then when the mood hits and they still turn out wonderful results.

Olympus!

Olympus!

Olympus E-3. Except for noise issues with high ISO, I love it. I use a Canon G-9 when I want to pack light.

Come on...nobody has a S2 with a 35/2.5 Summarit-S aspherical or did I miss that post??? Why settle for full frame??? :)

High rollers??? LOL

Did Leica make that sensor 60% bigger than full frame 35mm for a reason?
