What case works good for the M series? Getting M9

I have been looking at the Luigi cases on ebay and went to his web site. Very nice, though not inexpensive but what is now days. I used to have a business doing what he is though I also made boots and saddles (western). So there is a bit of work but I know the real costs. Anyway, they look nice and appear to be a good quality. I will be getting an M9 next week and would like a nice though not totally obvious case.

Any opinions?

I have an aged Brown Luigi case for my MP and I don't think there's a better case made.The only thing I regret is not getting the tripod screw. Expensive but probably worth it.

I can't go past the Luigi grip case and wish I had one for every camera I own. Unfortunately I only have two ... an M one that does service on my M2 M3 and any other camera I can jam into it which includes my OM's and FM3A ... and I have one for my Zeiss Ikon.

They are superb ergonomically and far superior to the accessory grips that attach to or replace the base plate IMO!

Actually in response to reactions like yours peer pressure has got the better of me occasionally and I've attempted to shoot sans case. (unsuccessfully)

Not to mention all the bullsh!t theories such as:

"feeling the M3 in my hands puts me in touch with the camera and allows me to connect better with my subjects!"

Excuse me while I puke!


'Case pride' is real and those of us who chose to use them put our inhibitions behind us ages ago and just accepted what we were! 😀

The Zhou case is very nice as well.

The Luigi case is probably brilliant but $290 for a case and strap can be a stretch. If the Mrs. spent $290 on a much larger leather purse, I'd raise an eyebrow.

I used to make very fine leather products as I mentioned so I know the labor involved from years of work in a two man shop. 290 is a bit steep but there doesn't appear to be anything else to compete. I think about 100 less would be a fair and still allow plenty of profit and the strap, they are so easy and quick to make that they would make the most money on them. The case is nice to protect the body esp if banging around in the field doing some work. The strap would be easy to cut though. And then he wants 20 euro for a cut out for the thumbs-up, which takes maybe 1 minute to do. Oh well. It is a pretty case when it gets broken in and it is made in Italy, the country my grandfather came from. :^)
