A two-pack of the Fuji Instax Wide Color film, for my Instax 100 that I haven't used in years. Seems to work fine with new batteries, so I'm psyched to use it again. I recall the Instax film as being a lot better than Polaroid's. Purchased by me, to be wrapped by my wife.

Merry Christmas to everyone. I was given the usual assortment of chocolates and aftershave, which perhaps implies that I'm not sweet enough, and smell too much, but I'm always grateful for them.
But I was also given a copy of the wonderful book Melbourne: Then and Now, a slim hardcover with lots of photos covering the evolution of the city of Melbourne.

On Christmas day, I documented the proceedings with photos with the M9 and Panasonic S5. It has been this way for years now, just a very small family gathering with those we love the most. I always feel blessed and grateful to be able to experience this; we live in a country and time when good food is plentiful, and beloved family is around. We lost Grandma a few years ago, and she is always included in Grace before the festive meal.

My wife gave me pair of heavy wool socks, a copy of The Americans by Robert Frank and a Fringer smart adapter to use my Nikon G lenses with my Fuji XT-3.

Since we don't exchange gifts anymore at my house, I have to treat myself really well. Just before Christmas I treated myself to a new used Nikkor 20/3.5 AI lens--the small one that uses 52mm filters. It's kinda tiny and not very impressive looking but when I took it out the first time on a D700...

...and grabbed a quick shot at a traffic light, I was convinced.

Yes, it's a really nice lens. Doesn't flare at all.

Whoa, much better than a pair of socks! You must have been very, very good all year. Enjoy!

Beautifully made, and sharp. I like it, and the 90/3.5.
I did pick up a camera to go with a lens. I could not bring myself to hacking it into M-Mount. I have enough fast lenses in M-Mount. And a Canon 7 that is perfect with this lens. But- wanted digital. At under $1K, the Nikon F3HP that I sold paid for it.

She is on her way from Finland over to the USA, been stuck in Germany for a few days but still arriving early next week. It really is the whole deal-in-one. Missing the front crash bars, so I am going to see if there are some around, most likely it will be in Italy.
It is going to be quite a learning curve and just a center filter is going to cost me around another $400 for the wide angle Schneider……….I had already decided that I have way too many pairs of socks !!!

Santa/Father ruddy Christmas brought me two presents this year, both of them very similar:
1) A sort of stuck diaphragm for the Nikkor AIs 50mm f1.4 lens that I've had for a few years, which could've been down to oil on the blades (oil which hadn't been there when I bought the lens).
2) A sort of stuck diaphragm for the Tamron CT105 105mm f2.5 that I've had for about a year.
It seems the 50mm has been fixed but the 105mm "needs a part" which the tech doesn't have. It seems the tech didn't tell the shop what part it needed, or whether the part can be taken from just ANY lens or if it had to be a Tamron CT105 105mm lens. The shop said they'd send it to another tech who may have the necessary part.
To put it simply, Santa/Father Ruddy Christmas has decided to bring me the present of making my wallet lighter by about £140 IF the Tamron can be fixed. If not, I'll have to decide on whether to risk buying another Tamron or sped 2 or 3 times as much on a Nikkor AIs 105mm f2.5.
Thanks a ruddy lot Santa/Father ruddy Christmas!

Santa could have left the lenses alone, and just brought you coal. Santa can be really sadistic.
