what did santa bring you?

A rainbow hexanon ar to m43 adapter. Perhaps a hexanon AR won the EPL1 will be my one lens, one camera for 2013??

Our big gift this year was that our oldest daughter got early admission to NYU film school. It would have been a somber Christmas if she didn't make it into her first choice, and had to scramble for alternatives. It is still sad for me, because this is her last year living at home. ;-( I am of course very proud.

My kids got me a music CD I wanted (Black Keys), my wife gave me the gift of her everlasting love and devotion (and a tie). I got myself an Oben monopod.

Merry Xmas to everyone, my condolences to those who got sick (Andy, Chris, and especially Dayrell), and those suffering other unfortunate events (Brian). I hope you are getting the bad stuff out of the way, and can look forward to a great New Year.

I got several photo books: 500 Cameras (Todd Gustavson), Looking at Ansel Adams (Andrea G. Stillman), The Photographer's Eye (John Szarkowski), and Naked (Dylan Rosser). All had been on my Amazon wish list. I'm returning the Rosser book, though, since after getting the book I'm finding the photography is terrible; others had rated it 3-5 stars and I'm giving it only a 1 due to its over-Photoshopping of the models.

Plus a friend is having a stamp made for me to stamp my darkroom prints with my name, but he discovered too late that the store who made it had misspelled it! And also I received quite a few clothes, as is inescapable this time of year.

I reciprocated pretty well. Some of my family is moving from a rural environment to my city rather soon, and so I gave my little sister three film SLR cameras and plenty of film to get her started. I gave her a Canon, a Nikon, and a Minolta, to see which she bonds with best, since she has tiny hands.

A nice beat up M4 with 1969 summicron 35 that were just sitting on my aunt`s shelf, now they found a home where they will be loved :)

oh, and some chocolates, I love chocolate!!

Due to packages stolen from our porch shortly after they were delivered, no gifts for us for a few days. My wife and I will probably exchange something smaller in a few days. We're going to call the 26 or 27th Christmas. I'm just going to work on the 25th instead while she goes to Les Miserabhules.

The lesson - check whoever you buy items from as soon as shipping information is available. Retailers change companies (Amazon uses regional delivery people now who I didn't know exist). Missed putting mail on hold with them. :\

Sorry to hear your problem, but I attempted to order a camera, and the dealer wouldn't send it to the hotel I'm staying at 27 days a month, but wanted to send it to my house matching the billing address, where it would be stolen long before I get there.

Clueless idiots....

Sad but true that even in these austere times, some folks just won't bend their own rules, even if it means a sale. Their loss. :)

I got a second 5DmkII body, which was a huge blessing as I had to sell my second camera last year due to slow finances. Truly grateful for that one.

9 year old bourbon, a few Criterion Collection blu rays, Citizen Kane (70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition), new golf bag, and a bit of cash.
