What do you MOST regret selling?

Canon 28mm 2.8 lens with case and finder, along with a Canon P. I sold them about 18 months ago and to this day do not know why.

That BUTTERY SMOOOOOOOTH DS M3 with glass film pressure plate I had many years ago. That thing was oh so yummy smooth as if all internals were liquid metal with ball bearings if that makes any sense.

I recently bought back most of the favorites I regretted selling. The remaining things are the Olympus Pen 60mm f/1.5 and CZ Sonnar in Contax mount, with Amedeo M adapter.

Maybe the Pentax Limited lenses, too. the 31 and the 77. The latter might find its way back to me someday.

Oh, yeah, I shoulda kept my M2. But I'm very happy with my M6, so...

I've got a publicity pic from the '64 world's fair with all their signatures! It was given to my parents by a family friend who was a rock promoter, when he learned they'd had a kid named John Lennon. (that's my name.)

Also, I recently regretted getting rid of my chrome Leica MP, so I bought it back a few weeks ago. Glad it was still available and around. Keeping it now for as long as possible. Selling gear always hurts unless I really just can't enjoy it.

Schneider 135mm f3.5 Xenar in LTM mount. Like-new condition with both correct caps after almost 50 years. I doubled my money, but I'll always regret selling it.

1936 Contax II after being totally restored to using condition (it was an attic find near my home). Shot few rolls, maybe 4 and sold it due to financial problems.

Mamiya 7. I never got along with bigger MF bodies; they're just no good for my style of shooting. The 7 is an amazing camera, even for street photography. And the lenses are amazing.

My 71 El Camino. I had good reasons for selling it but it doesn't mean I do not regret having to do it.

I can't think of anything I regret dealing away on the camera front.

Mamiya 60mm macro in M42.

The Mamiya Sekor 60mm f2.8, the one that goes to 1:1 without any extension tubes? That was my first "legacy lens," when I was still shooting M4/3, bought for $5 at a thrift store on the sketchy side of Salisbury, Maryland. Mine has a wonky aperture and a little fungus, but I love it as 90mm FOV portrait lens on my XE-2.

I've had a number of cameras I've owned, enjoyed, and sold... but the only piece I regret selling was the 1992 Canon EOS 50mm f/1.0 L lens I had. I paid under $2k for it... and recently found that they're going for $10k now... and projected to be worth $30k in another ten years.

Yeah, that's the one. I got mine cheap as well. I still see them from time to time. I just can't justify paying what a nice example goes for now.

Canon 85/1.8 and then a couple of decades later, the 85/1.5 I picked up to replace the 1.8. Of the two, the 1.5 is the one I'd want back the most.

This is a good start. I've been trying to buy back some of my mistakes and had good success. I foolishly thought I'd go all digital and sold much of my film gear. Now I'm buying it back. I've recently rebuilt my Leica system, Rollei 2.8D, 5x7 Deardorff and 8x10 Deardorff and lenses. I also sold my Durst 138 but picked another up a month ago. I'm still looking for a reasonable 180 componon S or similar.

Never again shall I make this mistake.

My Minolta X-700. It was my main (and only) shooter for several years, and made me appreciate simple and reliable design in a camera. The other one I regret letting go was my Canon AE-1, squeaky shutter and all.
