What do you wish you'd realized earlier?

The danger of GAS in film photography is so much bigger than in digital.

So many different formats and special cameras. Oh. And did I mention scanners?

And:
PRINT YOUR WORK - just start doing it NOW

For digital photography, I wish I'd realized earlier that:
- jpegs are okay, but raw is going to maximize your image quality
- lower resolution video formats are junk, and you'll wish you'd shot on the best codec available at the time

Am I allowed a second post? :)

That I found and joined the RFF sooner… with over fifty years in photography, both professionally and amateur, I am continually delighted and enthused from learning things anew by the posts here.

Actually making photographs with a pinhole camera - I've always thought about it but put it off for various reasons (not sharp enough, hard to know what I will get on the negatives, not my style, etc etc) ... and well, I love it. As a byproduct, I realized I should have gotten into panoramics much, much earlier too. Fumbling around with 40 mm on 6x12, waiting for whatever comes along is a new experience for someone "needing" 100% viewfinder coverage. :)

I realized that after buying these lenses (25mm Zeiss, 35mm Leica and 75mm Leica) that the 50mm Summicron Version 3 is the only one I use with my M2.

On a personal level, I used to obsess over what people thought of me (other than my family and a close friend or two) and now I care remarkably less - and as a result am much happier! :D
