For digital photography, I wish I'd realized earlier that:
- jpegs are okay, but raw is going to maximize your image quality
- lower resolution video formats are junk, and you'll wish you'd shot on the best codec available at the time

That I found and joined the RFF sooner… with over fifty years in photography, both professionally and amateur, I am continually delighted and enthused from learning things anew by the posts here.

Actually making photographs with a pinhole camera - I've always thought about it but put it off for various reasons (not sharp enough, hard to know what I will get on the negatives, not my style, etc etc) ... and well, I love it. As a byproduct, I realized I should have gotten into panoramics much, much earlier too. Fumbling around with 40 mm on 6x12, waiting for whatever comes along is a new experience for someone "needing" 100% viewfinder coverage. 🙂

I don't appreciate hindsight all that much...it's like living your life through a rear view mirror.

I realized that after buying these lenses (25mm Zeiss, 35mm Leica and 75mm Leica) that the 50mm Summicron Version 3 is the only one I use with my M2.

On a personal level, I used to obsess over what people thought of me (other than my family and a close friend or two) and now I care remarkably less - and as a result am much happier! 😀
