what happened to fuji reala superia prices?

I know that the Hexanon's make a nice difference in Image Quality, however, I do feel that when I shoot 'drugstore film' that the results are not as spectacular as the results I get via Reala.

I have T3's T4's and my beloved FT-1 and the following lenses:

21mm f2.8
28mm f3.5
40mm f1.8
50mm f1.4
85mm f1.8
100mm f2.8
135mm f3.2
200mm f3.5

Used to have a lot more, but had trouble with my eldest daughter and her bad habits resulted a LOT of my Konica gear being stolen, none of it was ever recovered.

Jacobs off Tottenham Court Road. Even out of date Sensia was £7.50.. No wonder 7dayshop do such good business.
 
Never mind film prices: I'm stunned at the price increases for a ream of printing paper. Even the El Cheapo stuff is hitting $7, and that's at Staples. The same stuff a year ago was around $4-5 a ream. The only thing these film price increases signify to me is that Rochester's film is suddenly more competitive. (Kodak's BW400CN is now cheaper than Ilford XP2...and, last time I checked, not by a tiny margin.)

And let's not get started about food prices. Glad I belong to a food co-op.

About once a year LIDL do photo paper for one day only (it's not a normal stock item) and it's 50 sheets of A4 for about €5, or 100 sheets of 150mmx100mm for about the same price. The regular price in other stores is about €20.

I buy up their whole stock.

😕 when i was buying it for 3.50$ , 1euro = 1.50+usd, now it's 4.95 and 1euro = 1.30+usd... so what you're saying doesn't really work unless the film is trailing the currency by 6 month... in which case in another 6month i'll be writing on here gloating how i'm buying reala superia for 2.50 a roll.


with regards to inflation... i've only had my leica for a little over a year shooting film, so i don't know what was goign on 10,20 years ago.
 
I buy film when it is cheap. I now have 100 rolls of Reala 100 and will get 50 rolls of Fuji 200 for general purpose applications. Not everything gets Reala. The average cost per roll is $1~$1.25 which includes shipping.

i understand, i can still get reala 100 for 1.99 a roll, i'm talking about reala superia 100.

i think so... it's the only "slow" color film that i use when i don't use slide film. i, personally, love the green and reds it produces.

I almost bid on a 21/2.8 a couple months ago, but chickens out 🙂 is that lens as good as I read about?

Also what do you think about the 85/1.8 and 135/3.2? do you like them?

I have the 35/2, 50/1.4, and UC 80-200/4 and some overlap with what you got.

The one that surprised me the most is the UC zoom. That thing is wicked 😉

I'm aware that in 135 format we get only Reala Superia, while original Reala starts with roll film (not aware about sheets, probably sheets too).

MF shooters claim they swear by original Reala and don't value Reala Superia. As I'm 35mm person, I use what Fuji gives to us, compact film users - that said, it's Reala Superia.

Do I miss something, anyone?

I see. I have not thought before about any differences between the two Reala types.
 
There is some confusion around:

Originally there was Reala semi-professional film, then in some markets at some times it changed name to Reala Superia.

Reala Superia (or Superia Reala) is the same film as Reala, but not the same as plain Superia.

No idea why; it's odd marketing by Fuji (or Fujifilm).

The dollar has weakened since; about 1.35/euro. Sorry, don't know about the zloty (can't put a line through the l). But remember that EU prices are normally posted at what you actually pay -- price + VAT/TVA/MWST usw -- while US prices are normally quoted (fairly dishonestly, in my view) net of admittedly much lower sales taxes.

Thus $4.50 less 20% VAT/TVA/MWST is about $3.55 net of tax, and $3.55 including LA sales tax is around $3.90. Internal sales tax in the USA for mail order is something the Treasury will have to address sooner or later.
