Yeah, we don't identify cars by their generation, but by the year. I guess it's because they're new each year (even if only cosmetically). Perhaps this also panders to a materialistic urge to have the newest and best, even if it's really the same car as last year.kully said:I've always wondered - why do you always put the year with a car model in America? Do they change every year?
Seems strange, I wouldn't know whether a 1997 Seat Ibiza was a MkII or MkIII.
It seems strange to many North Americans, I think, to use generations like MkII or MkIII. I had no understanding of the concept until last year, when I bought a Golf II in Germany; now I can't even remember what year it was made, only that it was a II!

I'm a bit surprised anybody recognised the little 3-wheeler!
But dead right, Lomax 223.
For guys not in the know this is based on the Citroen 2CV. You scrap the body, modify the back end (a bit!) drop on a new glass fibre body, and detail to your hearts content.
I cheated and bought my jalopy virtually ready made and then did a fair amount of the extra detailing. The front bumper (fender) came from a scrap towel rail found at the local tip.
My first dog thought it was great and always wanted a ride when he heard it start up - the present dog couldn't abide it, a bit sad really!
Gone up in the world now!
Drive a Skoda Octavia Tdi!!

Either we're as much weird-car fans as weird-camera fans here, or most of the people who drive 'normal' cars haven't chimed in.

65 Austin Mini,
Ford Fiesta (piece of junk!)
Honda Civic hatchback
94 Subaru wagon
89 Honda Civic Wagovan (favorite car of all time. Bought it in college for $1,300 with 136,000 mi on it. Ran it until just over 250,000 mi with no more than regular, scheduled maintenance. It was still getting 30 mpg when I gave it away to charity [for a $1,500 tax write off] two years ago.)
91 Subaru Loyale wagon (needs a head gasket... leaks oil)
