What have you just BOUGHT?

found a sweet little Nikon L35AF for 3 bucks at a thrift store. It was in one of those bags where it had an extra little item. The other item was this Russian lens called a Helios 44-2 58mm f/2...but I have no idea what mount this is.

Hi there, first post in this forum! I am happy to join this little community.

Over the last few weeks I have upgraded my kit, originally consisting of an M2 and a 50mm Summicron v.3, with these two gems:

A Canon 35mm f2.8 LTM in very good condition and with pristine glass for 100€ (plus 50€ for the LTM adapter). No Hood or finder, though.

A Nikkor PC 8.5cm f2 LTM with the corresponding Leitz 9cm adapter for 170€, again without the original hood or finder.

I am very happy with both deals and throughly enjoy the Nikkor on film and digital. It is sharp enough wide open and has a dreamy look, although the Bokeh can be a little nervous at times.

The Canon was the cheapest possible 35mm lens for my Leica (the Jupiter aside). I do not expect wonders of it but it feels very nice and will serve my purposes just fine for the time being.

The only pain I have with these is the fact that I have now entered the realm of non-conventional filter sizes (and threads!) and a lack of aftermarket lens hoods. For now I use a Canon T-50-2 on the Nikkor (so there is some blasphemy involved in all this), which slides onto the Vivitar Skylight filter in place (but does not fit the barrel of the lens). The filter is scratched, but new filters in 48x0.5mm are scarce. The hood takes Series VII filters, so I might take out the glass of the Vivitar filter and insert 49mm filters into the lens hood.

For the 35 I have no filters as of yet, but there are some old stock Heliopans on ebay that I might acquire. Funnily, the generic 39mm lens hood I had lying around slides onto the barrel quite nicely. This gives me enough protection for now.

I will definitely post images in the dedicated threads for these two lenses.

I'm very glad I haven't been on this forum for my recent return to film as the list would be absurd by any measure, but I think I've now pretty much got there. My latest and hopefully last camera purchases are a Topcon Super D with 58mm f1.8 and 100mm f2.8 and a Voigtlander Bessaflex M42 mount so I can use more Iron curtain kit.

To balance that I shall be selling my Olympus OM2n and my Hasselblad 500CM. At least I keep saying I will.

@lukx: Hello and welcome to the forum.

I bought a B+W 37mm push-on UV filter for my Welta Weltax. Fits perfectly and snugly, I don't think it'll fall off if I point the camera downwards but will come off without having to 'twist and grunt'.

I found this Nikkormat FTn at one of my favorite Thrift stores...
Camera in decent shape, speeds sound good, wear in the normal places, self timer works...not sure if the meter works and it's missing the X flash connector...
Came with the Nikkor-S 50mm 1.4 and Nikkor-Q 135mm 2.8...the glass in the 135mm is real clean, the 50mm is also pretty good and produced some nice images...

A Kodak No.2 Folding Brownie model A from 1904-1905 (the one with wooden parts). One of the first cameras using 120 film 😛

The real, real first one with 120 film is of course the No.2 Brownie model A from 1902, just two years before.
