What have you just BOUGHT?

I bought a metal 40.5mm lens hood for my minolta 110 zoom slr mk2 to use instead of the rubber hood that I have and a 40.5mm spacer ring to make the hood deeper. Dunno if it'll now cause a bit of vignetting, I'll have to see.

I also bought 5 cartridges of lomo 110 Orca 100 film.

Nostalgia

Saw this on a well known auction site and decided to take a gamble.

The gamble paid off - after a simple CLA it is like new🙂

I found this little (or big?) beauty on eBay this past week. A Kinnard tripod, made in about 1948. The pride of Milwaukee! Compact tripod (that weighs almost 3 lbs!) that extends to over 5ft tall. A great addition to my many camera bags!

The legs are made of spiral stainless steel -- it takes a bit of practice and time to elongate the legs, but once they're all opened and locked, it's a pretty sturdy unit. I tested it out with my Graflex 2x3 Pacemaker and it seemed to do pretty well. We'll see how it works out in the field.

Try to disregard the Cicada carcasses 🙂

For gentlemanly birdwatching of course.

These little beauties just showed up -- a pair of C.P. Goerz 'Trieder' binoculars, 12x power. The serial number puts these binoculars at circa 1900! Pretty nice for 121 years-old.

I took the lenses apart and cleaned them, and now the view is pretty clear. The leather case needs a bit of help, and I ordered a length of saddle-coloured leather to remake the shoulder strap.

Cool thing is one of my old glass plate cameras is a Goerz Vest Pocket Tenax, so this is a nice pairing. Only problem is that the camera is much much newer -- 1910 🙂

I had mulled the idea of dropping money for a nice M4/3 body (like the EM1 II) but after browsing some shops over the weekend, I ended up with an EM5 classic and a 20mm f1.7 for under $300 all told. I'm happy to have the lens again, with a quite decent body to go with it.

Sold a whole bunch of stuff including a very nice M3 DS, IIIf RDST, the 21mm Elmarit ASPH and got myself a 21mm Summilux. If I can only keep one lens then this is it.

I could not help myself. I listed a Canon 100mm f3.5 in black and chrome on my eBay watch list and in due course the seller offered me a substantial discount on his B.I.N. price. Lens lust over came me and I thought what the hell, why not? And I had not even been drinking! 🙂 Such a pretty little lens...............

I anticipate it arriving in the next day or so - DHL are expensive as delivery agents but they are unbelievably efficient - rapid as all get out and with updates on delivery status arriving perhaps at least twice per day. In three days it has gone from deliver to DHL in Japan to arrived in my home city in Australia. That is impressive considering that Japanese deliveries are normally fast in any event (often under 10 days).

I look forward with anticipation.

Yesterday ... a Rolleiflex 2.8F Xenotar white face with prism finder ... well used but cared for condition ... paid $150. Will arrive next friday. Miracles exist.

Nikkor 200m f4 non-ai Mint. I do not need it but it was $13. Could not pass it up along with 11 33 rpm 70's rock albums for $6.

On another note just got back a roll of expired FOMAPAN that my wife shot with a Yashica as seen above. Outstanding quality. Will be using FOMA in the future.

A Leica IIIf that I placed an opening bid on, without ever expecting to win. No one else bid, so now it's on its way to me at an absurdly low price. It looked mint in the pictures, and the seller says it's working perfectly, but we all know how that can go! It should arrive Saturday.... Fingers are crossed!
