Cameras. I has it.
It’s not ugly to me; I think it has a nice industrial Art Deco appearance. There are a few cameras I’d refuse to let inside my house and would deliberately choose to leave them on a park bench. This isn’t one of them.…Hey cal it the ugliest camera ever made. They call it an ergonomic disaster. They laugh at it. I bought it. 1938 Perfex Speed Candid. …

I picked up a 50:3.5 MD Minolta macro lens with the 1:1 extension tube to see if it it’s a bit easier ad better to digitise my negatives than my current set up using Novoflex extension rings and my VC 50/1.5 lens (on an M10)

A triplet of Wasabi-Power batteries (and a charger) for my soon to be shipped Pixii. Only $30 for the whole set; the charger is cheap but should work ok.
A 512Gbyte Samsung thumb drive with dual USB-C + USB A connection ports, again for use with the Pixii and my various tablet and desktop systems. $52. Sheesh, I remember when a 10Mbyte Memory Stick was $120. That wasn't long ago...

If it helps I didn’t even know the lens existed until I saw it on the local gumtree for a quite reasonable price ~$450 AUD.

According to Mr. Gandy, there was only one production run of these lenses, 700 total, back in 2021. There doesn't seem to have been the demand for the Voigtlander Nikon mount RF lenses that was anticipated.
My experience: optically extraordinary, beautifully constructed with chrome and black paint over brass. It comes with a beautiful chrome/black paint hood that unfortunately obstructs the finder on my S2 a good deal. There is a large, buttery smooth knurled focusing ring that should probably be used instead of the Nikon focusing wheel; the degree of resistance seems like it would stress the wheel, as is the case with a few big Nikon lenses. I greatly prefer the focusing ring over the wheel, myself.
This lens gives ample reason for unbounded covetousness. Get one if you can find one! And, as a side benefit, it seems to play well with digital sensors (or at least Sony's, from my experience).

Thanks nhchen and retro-grouch! The quest begins...hopefully it'll take me enough time to find one while I extort enough money from the family budget to cover the purchase. Haha. Looks like it's beans and rice for dinner again, guys.

Oh dear. Either one would be, um, an adventure. But both?

Ordered the Pixii, 32GB memory, yesterday. Needless to say I will check my porch every day now until I get the camera. Then some quick testing of the APS-C against the APS-H of an M8.2 with a 28mm and a 35mm lens. If the Pixii is looking good then it stays. Otherwise it goes back to France. If it does go back to France I will spend the refund on the usual: strong drink, black cigars, torrid women and fast cars. I'd hate to see the money go to waste in a savings account. ;o)

Just film tested Kiev 88 and it work quite well. Film advance is quite smooth. I've used about 3 kievs before and this seems the smoothes one. Will test Kiev 6s over the weekend.
Seems the seller test and adjust the cameras he sells. Kiev 88 was about $180 dlls and Kiev 6s was $100. Purchased as spare bodies but Kiev 88 will become my main body for the time being.

I bought one roll whilst on holidays in Poland some years ago was quite happy with it. I souped it in Rodinal back then - now i will try the HC110

You are very, very fortunate! It seems you've beaten the odds. I've had too many bad experiences with both models, supposedly tested and checked. I really wanted the Kiev 6S to work for me, having had fond memories of my Norita from my college days. A 6X6 SLR with 35mm SLR ergonomics is a joy, and I hope yours works for you!

Pan,
I rarely open this thread.....sorry to sound snooty, I am guilty of buying too much stuff, and this thread could fuel the fire.
Anyway, I am struck by the tonal brilliance of these images you've posted! You are on to something
