I recently just bought three pairs of new shoes. They do make a difference. First new shoes I've had in over four years.

I love Skechers shoes. I think I have four pairs these days and alternate wearing them with Birkenstock sandals and a pair of Onitsuka Tigers. The days of dressy shoes have long past for this old guy.

From my stint in uniform saving the world from "Godless, Communist Atheists" it was drilled into me the importance of good footgear, and never to wear the same pair two days in a row. If you cannot walk you are pretty much useless.

I'm not sure about the "never to wear the same pair two days in a row" part, though I usually do alternate shoes in some fashion.
My mother was a physical therapist, so we always wore shoes that were properly fitted and were good to our feet. (I wore arch implants made by an orthopedic surgeon when very little, and wore "corrected" shoes for some time after that.)
Interestingly enough, a lot of people wear shoes that don't fit them properly because they can't feel the difference and/or they can't find shoes that fit. A lot of shoes come in a limited number of widths, so people who need narrower widths end up with shoes that are too short and people who need wider widths end up with shoes that are too long. I am a man with narrow feet, and it can be a challenge to find shoes that fit my feet.

Foot fungus and athletes foot. Let the footgear dry out. A soldier who can't walk is just a corpse waiting to die. I kept the habit in civilian life.

I am using gel insoles. They last long and I give them a quick wash once a week. They dry within minutes. Only downside is that they can make funny noises if your shoe is big and your foot slides in it 🙄

Hi Jeff, I am puzzled about the shutter. But I found a set of tiny magnetic ND filters for a drone system. They will fit nicely. And an original B&W orange filter. To be continued!

An 82mm to 72mm step down ring. Which by itself is boring. When paired with the previously mentioned Canon Wide Converter WD-H72 it gets a bit more interesting....
45mm on 6x7 has same width as a 24mm (on 35mm) but 10 degrees more vertical.
45mm with the Canon has same width as a 17mm (on 35mm) but about 13 degrees more vertical.
It is a *heavy* combo. Not hard vignetting in the viewfinder, will have to see if that is true at the film gate.

Another Christmas present! OK, I bought it for myself. The sweet CZJ '37 5cm 1.5 arrived today with the attached '37 Contax III. The meter does not work. No problem as this puppy is going on a round trip to Oleg for a CLA of lens and camera. I do not know how much is needed but I am getting it all. I have a huge soft spot for these pre-war Contax cameras. I'll run a spool of XP-2 through it and re-pack it for Slovakia and Oleg. And the Contax II is on its way back from Oleg. OK, here is the III. Yes, this '37 CZJ is factory coated. Yes, I was incredibly lucky.

Today I bought a Fujifilm Finepix HS30EXR. I'd been thinking of their HS35EXR but I couldn't see any difference in comparisons and in their manuals, and there were a couple in a local shop. Really annoying though is the fact that in Shutter Priority, you can't see the f No. unless the meter thinks no f No. can be used at that shutter speed and you can only see it when you pres the shutter button, and vice versa for Aperture priority, even though in their S5800 you can see both speed and f No. in Shutter priority, Aperture priority, Manual and program so they DO know how how to do it!

Purchased an AF Nikon 50mm f1.4 on my work trip via FB marketplace. Price was good. Talking to the owner, he moved on to Fuji digital for the size and film simulations. He then gave me this well used black paint FM with a Series E 75-150 lens. Meter works and slow speeds seem consistent.

That's it. In the Army your primary MOS is 111, rifleman or foot soldier. In Basic Training we painted the heels of one set of boots white. We had white boot days followed by black boot days. When you can, let those boots have a day to dry out. There are currently about a half million troops in uniform. The Army is serious about avoiding all possible risk. Sunburn can be an offense. Your job is move, shoot, communicate. Move means march most often. You are never without that obligation.

Seriously impressed with both products. The 28mm is a very well built lens and renders nicely and the M8.2 holds up very well even today!
