What have you just BOUGHT?

This week I bought a second Fujifilm bc65n charger for the NP-95 batteries of my Fujifilm X-S1 camera. It came with a non-fuji one but I wanted a spare and bought one with English writing on the back and now I have one with Chinese writing on the back - it seems both were made by " JET". I also bought 3 spare Fuji NP-95 batteries, these look the same as the official Fuji np-95 that came with the camera. I also have two "replacement for fuji np-95" batteries, making a total of (a slightly embarrassing) 6 batteries. I also bought a second USB 2.0 mini cable as a spare.

Just bought a Graflex Norita parts camera to help out the other Graflax Norita I bought a few weeks ago. Fortunately this one has both strap lugs/eyelets -- hopefully my repair fellow will be able to extract the remains of the broken one and replace it with an intact one from the parts camera.

I would really be embarrassed to tell you how many extra batteries I have for various cameras. Let's just say I have several for each.

Oh my, I went on a Zuiko and OM spree lately ... 24 f2,8 (a very nice, late copy) in hands, 35mm f2, late version, on its way to me, and I just pulled the trigger on a nice OM-1n in working order including a 50 1.4mm Zuiko MC and a very late, nice 28mm f2.8.

The OM-1n, 50 f1.4 MC and 28 f2.8 MC combined for 160 Euro shipped. Will send the OM-1 to a renowned Olympus specialist in Frankfurt, Germany, to get a CLA (the light seals need to be renewed anyway), check for prism foam and get a professional 1,5 Volt conversion.

Hmm. Why?

I don't see the point of more than two or three batteries per camera. Unless you shoot thousands of frames per photo session. I struggle to make 50 frames per session. Hmm. Maybe I've answered my own question. ;)

Got my first retina today. A iiic. Very German feeling. It’s definitely the quietest camera I have. I love the build quality and how quiet it is. Everything appear to be working including the light meter. Now I just need to figure out how to open the back. 😜😜😜IMG_8703.jpeg

I know what I won't be buying this or any other week - the new Fujifilm half frame digital camera, not least because it does NOT come with a charger. £700 for a farting little bit of tech that I'm expected to pay extra for a charger? They can stick right up their Jumper!

AND I broke down and got a flash for it too:

SUNPAK Auto 522 Thyristor Handle Mount camera Flash w bracket
GN 110 off of AA batteries and the PC cord to plug right in. Bamf! Nice and cheap too.

Lovely cameras! I have several IIc (50mm f/2.8 lens) and a IIIc (50mm f/2 lens) that was 'converted' to remove the (dead) light meter and replace a badly dented top cover.

To open the back, look at the base of the camera.

On the end, opposite the film advance, is the tripod mount. The mounting boss has a moving cover on it ... rotate the cover in the direction of the arrow at the end and the push button to release the back cover is uncovered. Press that, and the back pops open. :)

I’ve never handled one until today. Really impressed with the smoothness of all the mechanical components. I’ve given the manual a quick once over but I’m still a little confused about how to use the exposure meter. I need to see if there’s a video explanation on YouTube.

Regards the meter, it's a simple two-range match-needle system which calculates a light value (EV number). You transfer that light value to the coupled scale on the shutter time selector, locking the aperture and exposure time together. From that point, you can pick which aperture/shutter pair to use easily since the two rings lock together and move as a piece.
