What have you just BOUGHT?

Hi.

I bought this early Elmar. Don't know why because I don't have a Leica I, but a III... Anyway, it looked so lonely and cheap.

Is there any chance to make it work (coupled or uncoupled) on my iii or my M8 via adapter? Maybe using an old Industar-22 mount?

Thank you!
Makes you wonder how that mount came to be polished and chromed, curious.

If you already have an old Industar mount (the older the better maybe) it might work 'mechanically' but I don't know whether the focus would be anything like right, somehow I doubt it but you might be lucky. The conversion form fixed mount to ltm was quite common in prewar days but I think only done at the factory.

Yes, too much for my taste, almost like a mirror. But it looks to be very well done, with the engravings painted black and the distance mark in red (?). I wish I knew its story and why it was separated from its body.

I don't have one. I'll try to find one in bad condition to make the experiment.

Very brave; but with a little finesse, it might work.
And if it can't be repaired, you can use the dent as the basis for hair-raising stories by the fireside or at the pub table
😎
Thanks! I'm pretty sure I can get it working just fine so that it'll accept filters and the front element can be removed for cleaning. 'Just not certain yet if I can make the repair so that it is completly undetectable. Barring any shipping delays it arrives tomorrow, so I'll know soon,

I wish you luck, skill, and steady hands.

Used Fuji TCL-x100 and glued a magnet in it to auto trigger the x100vi.

(2) Haoge MC-49 rear lens caps and glued them together to make it easier to store the TCL and WCL.

Used Tamrac 600R, bought before the smaller Tamrac. The 600R is for when I want more options with the Fuji.

The x100vi will fit in the 600R with either conversion lens installed or the flash installed (but not both.)

The front pocket holds the stacked conversion lenses (no padding up there though) and the film pouch under the top holds 3 spare batteries.

Follow up on Zeiss Sonnar with bent front rim. It arrived today and I spent a few moments to address the issue. It's substantially better but I'll probably do a bit of fine tuning when I have more time. I expected heavy haze and possibly some fungus on the glass, but as this flashlight backlit video shows, it's very clean, especially for a lens made about 1955.

Can it be unthreaded from that back plate? I have that exact lens in LTM and it works without drama on a IIIf and various M bodies with the appropriate adapter ring. These old, uncoated Elmars do really interesting things with backlighting or specular highlight and give off a kind of "glow".

I don't know where you live, but you might check with DAG camera repair to see what Don recommends (he's arguably the best Leica guy in the US). The problem is that the cost of any modification might well exceed the value of the lens.

Got a set of new Hasselblad strap clips so I can use my nice wide Optech neoprene strap with my V bodies.

The official Hasselblad strap is too narrow and stiff to be comfortable for walking around, at least for any length of time. The Optech feels 100% better.

I have done this emergency adapter:

So I tested the setup in my M8 and set the lens to infinite. The rangefinder patch is ok. But the the picture taken is focused to ±1 meter.... So I think I have to play with shims to get the lens farther from the mount.
