Watch that step!

This just arrived in the mail today.......
A very rare 1944 issued uncoated Leitz Elmar f3.5/50mm lens #582xxx from 20 November 1944 (one of Leica's LAST ever WW2 Nazi Era deliveries, before the surrender to the Allies/Capture of the company in April 1945.)
In very fine condition, this lens was once on a IIIC K Grey, what happened to the camera........... who knows?

Something I have been looking for, for a good while.
A barrel-mount Schneider Xenar 135mm F4.5 lens (no shutter). Very hard to find, actually. This one is late 60's (last of the runs) due to the black finish.
I intend to mount this lens on a Plaubel Peco Junior lens board (modified with an attached Durst recessed IXTUB lensboard), and then use it on my three Plaubel Makiflex bodies. Hopefully it will work, we will see. The 135mm Xenar was the one hole in my Schneider lens collection.

This lovely thing.

This is a very early FED2, among the first 1000 made, probably a preproduction unit. The finish is very good, better than any other FED2 I have examined. It has a number of subtle differences from the later production units, but has the same excellent combined VF/RF, better than Leitz achieved until the M3.
I have film in it at the moment, so hopefully I'll soon know if it works as well as it looks.
Cheers,
Dez

Schneider 135mm F4.5 Xenar barrel-mounted.
Schneider 135mm F4.5 Xenar barrel-mounted.
A lens I have been looking for for a while, the Schneider Xenar 135mm F4.5 Xenar in barrel-mount. To go onto my Plaubel Makiflexes, a worthwhile project for sure. I took a Plaubel Peco Junior board, and enlarged the hole in it, to accommodate a Durst IXTUB recessed enlarger board. I will then mount a lens flange inside the IXTUB, once I have enlarged the hole for the lens in it.
This lens will focus from infinity to closeup on all three of my Makiflexes, so it really a worthwile addition to my collection. And the only hole in my collection of Schneider Xenar lenses. Surprisingly not so easy to find.
