What have you just BOUGHT?

I came upon this handsome little devil. An Ennalyte 95mm f2.8 by Enna of Munchen dating to 1962. It is such an unusual focal length that I had to have it especially as I have a soft spot for short to medium long and tele lenses particularly in the 100mm range. I have seen it referred to as a simple triplet design like, one supposes, the Triotar but I have also seen optical diagrams showing a 4 element layout - still not got to the bottom of this discrepancy - a possible design upgrade at some time in its history perhaps.........?

Sharp enough when stopped down (soft when open as expected) but still definitely more of a portrait lens. I love how it looks and it even has some more sophisticated elements - like click stop aperture (many lacked this simple refinement) Its M42 but with T mount so amenable to adapting to just about any mirrorless and some SLR cameras.

I am TRYING to purchase a Leicaflex SL from mwclassic.com but boy, are they unresponsive...

Sent three emails already (over four days) asking for their bank data and haven't heard back from them at all.

I get the feeling this is going to be the same situation as a year ago, where I purchased a rare FED-S from them and after payment it took them a week to tell me it 'sadly wasn't available anymore' and another two weeks to refund me...

:bang::bang::bang:

Ah, MW Classic, the Bermuda Triangle of photographic equipment orders. I ordered three things from them in October last year, one of which was a Christmas present for a friend, and after three months of chasing, put in a Paypal refund request. Funnily enough, that went through within a day or so.

Just bought a Zeiss Jena 50mm f1.8 Pancolar and a Nikkor 85mm f2 AI. Both from West Yorkshire Cameras, which gets most of my business as they are well described, reasonable and exceptionally prompt in sorting out any issue (rare in my experience).

Ha, that does it, nowhere near as much patience as that on my end, Charles!

I'll see if I ever get a response, and if I still feel like purchasing when I do... 😉
Too bad really, it was a very nice Leicaflex...

I had the same experience just a week or so ago ... waited four weeks for a supposedly shipped Mamiya Sekor 65 mm (been looking high and low for a non-dinged, non-hazy one for a good while now) for my TLR.

Nothing, no communication, no lens and ... uhh ... nothing except an automatic email that they received my order (and took my money). Eventually I filed a paypal complaint and yes, money back within a few days. Where the lens went (if they ever actually shipped) I don't know.

They can have all the golden Leicas and whatnots for all I care - not going to buy there again.

A7RII, Tech Art Pro and Canon 50 1.2 LTM. Kind of amazing to use most of my MF lenses with autofocus. This is the Canon after I cleaned the elements and degreased the iris.

I've been out of photography for a while and recently decided to jump back in with a Harman Titan 4x5 pinhole camera and DDS from Walker Cameras. As long as I'm going back to shooting film, might as well go big.

I have a big box of darkroom equipment a friend of mine gave me a few years ago that I need to sort through to determine what I really need to purchase vs. what I already have, but I did splurge on a Rondinax 35U in good condition from the auction site so I can develop 35mm without having to set up a full darkroom.

I have no intention of getting any new 35mm or MF cameras beyond what I already have (Vivitar SLR with 50/1.7, a Fuji Natura S Black 24/1.9, and a Lubitel 166U), but I'm definitely on the hunt for a 4x5 field camera and suitable normal-ish length lens.

Not really bought, it was a gift from the seller who sold to me my Retina IIIS (see above) 😀

A fun little camera with replaceable front element lenses (I believe, I cannot see the removal tab at the bottom on yours). Note the alternate framelines in the viewfinder. I had a couple of those cameras, in various permutations, still have one with a non-removable lens. They feel jewel-like in the hand, very precise, very well-made. Given time and effort, they can make lovely images as well. Enjoy!

Thank you, and yes, it is a Contina matic III apparently -- the lens release tab is broken off, but one can still remove the front element with any pointy thing.

The Prontor is also a bit off -- some sort of untrue double-stroke is now happening; film advance #1, you can press the shutter release button and it fires; advance #2, the shutter fires *automatically*, advance #3 = #1, #4 = #2, and so forth ...

Perhaps I should put it on the 2018 RFF Holiday Giveaway! List, I hope there is someone who gives that little gem the TLC it needs -- bmattock, what about you? 🙂

Thank you but no - I am in a new house that is much much smaller than my old one, and downsizing as I can. I need fewer cameras! But I have always loved those Continas. I'm sorry the winder is giving you trouble.
