What have you just BOUGHT?

A Bell and Howell Foton with the Cooke Amotal T2.2 2”, plus neverready case. I horsetraded a leica III with Summar, and sold off some wet plate gear for it. On its way now from the UK. (If someone can tell me the ez way to post photos here off my iPhone, I’ll show it off)
 
I bought an accessory Rangefinder made by Photopia for use with my Ensign Selfix 1620. Not quite the right marked distances but close enough. I had gone to the shop to see in they had a Lomo Blik rangefinder for use with my Welta Weltax but they didn't have any.

I also bought a Tamron 24mm f2.5 01B adaptall 2 lens case for use with my Tamron 24mm f.2 01BB lens, thinking that it's supposed to be basically the same design with the same filter thread so it should fit, but no, my lens is a tidgy bit too big for it.

That lens is still in my Tamron 28-50mm lens case.

I've now got my Nikon 50mm f1.4 lens in the 24mm lens case. That lens was in a Tamron 35-70 f3.5-4.5 lens case.

That case was meant for my Tamron 35-70 f3.5 lens, but it was a squeeze, so I decided to leave the lens on my F301 until I got a case for it.

I do have a second tamron 35-70mm f3.5-4.5 lens case. I didn't it buy for my 35-70 lens as I thought it would be too small, but I don't know why I did buy it.

Anyway, while I was faffing about trying the 24mm lens in the 24mm case and getting nowhere I accidentally found out that one of my 35-70mm lens cases does actually fit the 35-70mm lens in it, even though both cases are for the same model lens which is different to the model lens I have!
 
Another Retina which I got earlier but I had no time to post here is the beautiful Kodak Retina IIa. Some days after it arrived (looking in quite good shape), it suddenly froze in full open position. I've done some small repairs to other shutters, but a Synchro Compur is well above my level. So I followed other's advice and sent it to the other side of the World to Chris Sherlock, and despite the Xmas season high traffic, it returned to me just in time for a trip in early February, and now it works flawlessly. It even has a small "Serviced by Chris Sherlock january 19" small decal inside. It's paired with a beautiful retailer's decal on the back, indicating that this camera was sold to its first owner, German I presume, in the town of Bensheim, north of Frankfurt am Mainz.

I have a IIa, as well. Purchased at a flea market for $8, in 1989. I shot a few rolls with it. Years later, I would like to make it a regular, but, winding no longer charges the shutter, as I recall. How much was the service?

It was 210 NZ $, about 125€, plus the cost of shipping it to the other side of the World. The way back was included in the service cost. And even sending it through Xmas shipping madness, it stayed away from home arround 6 weeks.

Obviously this cost is much more than your wonderful flea market cost of 8 $, but now my IIa works as new. I used it in a trip to Northern Norway were it worked flawlessly at -8º or even -15º (and a Soviet FT-2 stuck frozen every time we went outdoors).
 
A box of 9x12 dry glass plates from Jason Lane. I could use them with either a Ernemann Heag I or a KW Patent Etui. My entrance into the World of ancient development...
 
Went to a Jewelry/Pawn closing and estate sale. Picked up a Chinon Bellami for $10. Has a small crack on external viewfinder, and mild wear. But, it had good batteries in it, and everything seems to be working. With user manual, but, no flash.

Lacking rangefinder, the Bellami is more like a Minox 35 GL, rather than Olympus XA.

I must say, the wind-lever-operated barn door mechanism seems a likely cause of eventual failure.

I have been following the thread on Takumar lenses with great enthusiasm.

I already had two Spotmatics (a II and an F), an H1a, and four Takumar lenses, but inspired by the thread I bought the following:

1. An 85mm 1.9 Super Takumar, with original lens caps and lens hood (my favorite focal length, already arrived) and

2. A 105mm 2.8 Super Multi-Coated Takumar, with original lens caps, lens hood, and hard leather case (on its way).

Now, I just need a CLA for the Spotmatic II (passed down from my father) and I'll have a Pentax kit to vie with my Minoltas and TLRs.

A shutter speed tester for my smartphone (up to 1/1000), several plastic trays and a safety lamp for dark room use, Kodak Hypo clearing agent, and a 4x5 contact printing frame.

Most of these are signs that I'm preparing to use & develop J. Lane Dry Plates. First three (9x12) loaded in their holders 😀😀😀
