What have you just BOUGHT?

Arrived today from the Ukraine; something to go with my Barnack Leicas, Zorki, Canons, and Tower Model-3. It is a Fed Zarya with Industar 26 50mm f/2.8. It is a cheap version (no rangefinder) of the Fed 2b. As you might expect from the size, the viewfinder is really bright.

I was thinking of selling the Nikkormat FS. It even spent six months on consignment at a local shop but nobody wanted a 'mat that was twice as expensive as any others. I took this a a sign I should keep it and brought it back home. The Nikkor H-C 50mm 2.0 is a nice lens but I really prefer the 35mm, and after browsing around for a few weeks I found one with the scalloped aperture ring. It came with a Nikon filter, both caps and for the first time in a long time of buying old non-Ai lenses, one I can use without having it serviced.

Pentax 645 to Pentax K adapter. To be used with a Pentax Q-S1 using the Pentax Q adapter for K mount that has a leaf shutter in it. When I'm using the P645 lenses I can add the Q-S1 with adapters to have a serious telephoto setup with very little additional weight, the 120mm macro should be very interesting too.

I've used the Q with Nikon telephotos lenses and it works very well but with the potential for rolling shutter artifacts. This will avoid that.

Not a purchase, but was given. These belonged to my late father - they're a pair of 'Jena' 7x50 binoculars, likely from the 1950's or 1960's. They're superb - they even have the '1Q/Erst Qualitat’ marking on them.

I recall having first used these as a young child, so I feel extremely fortunate to now be their caretaker.

About $250 worth of restored wrecks mostly purchased in 2020-21:

Pilot Super is working but will be getting new leather and paint.

Olympus OM1 had lots of powdery surface corrosion, much of paint is new. Replaced pentaprism.

Nikon F3 needed general CLA, repair of faulty LCD

Nikkor 105/2.5 repaired frozen aperture, general CLA, did AI conversion

Jenaflex AM1 (Praktica B200) repaired cracked top cover, restored gold lettering, repaired battery damage. Deliberately left seam of gray epoxy visible on side of pentaprism housing.

But with asking prices of many older cameras being so high even for poor examples, most of my recent activity has been as a seller, not a buyer.

Ordered another Panasonic 12-32mm pancake zoom to replace the one on my wife's GF7, that unfortunately went missing from a hotel room. Oh well, it was old and tired. Still...

How is that Pilot Super in use? Is it something that you would use regularly? I've seen them for sale, and been curious...
I don't see it being a high-volume camera because it's kind of fiddly to operate, and the finder is dim, but sometimes I don't really know how I'll like a camera until I've spent time shooting with it and examining the results.

This week I bought an Altissa Altix III. Took me ages to find out how to load it, now I have to tape the film to the take-up spool as I damaged the metal "film grip" plate(?) and now the spool won't gip the film. I also now have to learn how to rewind the film without dragging the sticky tape into the cassette.

It has what I believe to be a rare threaded shutter release and a rare brightline frame in the viewfinder. From what understand this was for the 50mm lens that was also available apart form various 35mm lenses. the line isn't very easy to see in bright light though.

Where'd you get that handgrip for IT?

A new lens for my EM10. A 10mm f8 Pergear semi-fisheye. Should arrive this Saturday. The Pergear site has them on sale for $55 and shipped from the US. At that price I couldn’t resist. I know, fixed at f8, really slow. But I can always run the ISO up to the ‘Monet’ setting and just live with it.
Must be on a roll. This is the second new lens purchased this year and since I started this hobby in 1969 probably the 4th new lens ever purchased. Bought a lot of lenses over the years but almost always used and usually in cosmetically challenged condition to get the best price.

Edit; The $55 price was only in certain mounts.
