What have you just BOUGHT?

i am trying to decide which photography related purchase(s) to prioritize for the end of this year:
  • longer hasselblad v system lens (i only have 50mm Distagon, which i love but not perfect for everything)
  • 28mm or 35mm voigtlander LTM lens (i am happy w my 50mm lenses so far, but i dont have anything wider)
  • M mount film body + LTM to M adapter
  • compact digital camera for trips involving air travel
 
I bought a copy of Mark Laita's Soft White Underbelly book of photographs. He has a channel on YouTube where he interviews folks whose lives are disasters. But he recognizes that these are also human beings just as important as the next person. (Soft White Underbelly (YouTube channel) - Wikipedia) He is a former successful commercial photographer and shoots mostly mono and shows the dignity of the souls.

I've bought a bunch of photo books in the past year. I'll have to list them.

I like seeing what other folks are doing. They are way better than I and that is encouraging. It shows me I have room to grow.
 
Poor thing, but at least it has now found a new home. It is suffering from almost all faults known to man but it is reasonably clear. The interesting thing about it is that it is, or certainly appears to be, coated. This presents something of a problem. I have no idea who coated it but fear that the coating might be very soft. Pulling it a part and cleaning it might be counter productive.

I have said in the past that I would not buy any more equipment. Ah well...

After predominantly shooing film since 2017, I sold off my Warner (Norita) 66 and bought a Fuji GFX 50Sii and Mitakon 65.
I have been wanting to shoot more color in the last year or so, and the color film process is a bit too much for me at this time, so decided to give digital a whirl.

When I heard the Mitakon was developed to emulate the Pentax 105 2.4/Pentax 67 combo on the GFX platform, I was sold.

I plan to shoot this set up exclusively (with a sprinkling of film here and there) for at least a year. The timing works out pretty well too, everything is scheduled to arrive a few weeks before my birthday, so I get to play around and figure things out before launching into another 365 1C1L project on my birthday.

Dear hap,

I hope you enjoy that lens. I have it and when I am not using vintage manual focus Nikkors on my Df it is my walk around lens. It's not lightweight but it does a fine job as a one lens solution for the majority of my picture taking. I like to shoot outdoor scenery and wildlife, and it has been working out well for me.

I've tested it out on an N65 and an N80 and while I haven't finished the rolls of film I can assure you that the VR seems to work as advertised on those bodies too.

On the list of books, this one by Joey L. about Ethiopia, a land from urban crowds to rural stone age villages and all in between. Shot on a Phase One camera which if nothing else is damned expensive. The images are striking.

Hi Tim
thanks for the encouragement. This lens is a very practical lens even though it is a bulky. It balances well with small and large slrs. I have F100, N80, and F6. All works great with VR. Originally, I bought this for my D750.

I have this lens as well and I like it a lot except ... I find it heavy to lug around.

For a recent overseas trip, I bought a clean used 28-70mm AF-S for around $60 US or so. I am really happy with the results. It's tack sharp and contrasty and weighs far less. I'm still keeping the longer lens, but as a "wandering around" lens on my D750, I find the 28-70mm zoom far more natural. Couple of examples:
