Nice job, looks like a different lens from 1st picture.Did it. Used a rubber ring from an old Miranda zoom. The lens hood is there actually. Only issue is the amount of dust behind the front element. I will have to open it and clean it.

Edit:
I Opened it and now is all clean and ready to shoot.

After receiving the very generous Xmas freebie from Zuiko-logist, an Olympus E-420, I went on the mooch for a cheap lens, whilst cheap 4/3 lenses are available, most were homeless rough and being mostly plastic that's sort of understandable as they are something like 15+yrs old and most have had a hard life it seems and the ones on Fleabay were around £40 each for something decent....But sometimes if you look hard enough on local classifieds....
Olympus E-450 inc Charger etc
14/42mm inc Hood
40/150mm in Hood
4 x Fufi 1GB XD Cards
2GB Sandisk Ultra II CF Card
Lowepro Bag
For the price of 2 Fleabay lenses, picked up and home in about an hour.

Clean well the camera before adding the new one. Give the metal body a good rub with IPA to remove any glue residues.View attachment 4854761
A new skin for my Leica iiic from Aki-Asahi in Japan. I’ve never replaced a skin before so any tips and suggestions would be appreciated!
Apply a bit of water on the sticky side of it (actually cameraleather was asking people to lick the glue) as this will give you some time to make any final adjustments to the position of the leatherette before it dries. Make a test run first, I am not sure how you will place it over both strap lugs - hopefully you won't have to remove them.

Thank you! Just checked and it slips easily over the lugs - just have to tuck it in under the metal as I will have to for other areas as well. The surface under areas that have already peeled off are already very smooth but I will make sure to remove the glue further. What is IPA?Clean well the camera before adding the new one. They also sent another slightly less quality skin labeled as “practice” that I can play with before exposing the glue on the main skin.

Isopropyl alcohol - also known as rubbing alcohol. Not sure where you are in the world so any recommendations as to where to buy it might be wide of the mark, sorry! What is IPA?

Funny thing is, I can’t actually see that in the list. The only Barnacks I can see are the IIIf ST and the I/IIIg. Am I just totally missing it? I would have expected the II/III c/f no ST but I just can’t see it.View attachment 4854761

I had the same issue and found out the iiif and the iiic have the same skin parameters. Not sure if I simply ordered the iiif version or eventually found it listed when I went to order but my invoice from them states “LEICA IIIc IIIf Custom Covering kit - (A type)”…I’ve checked and it looks to fit around the camera perfectly in all areas…Funny thing is, I can’t actually see that in the list. Yes IPA is Isopropyl alcohol but i suppose any solvent will do - just avoid very harsh ones like acetone. Lighter fluid will do.Thank you! The biggest challenge is to put it right with the first go. I literally had to lick the leatherette and work it to sit correctly and leave it for a day to dry. Worked well for me.

All this talk about licking leatherette is giving me hot flashes. I need a bonding session with my Hasselbad...

As far as I know I/II/II c and f have identical dimensions; it is only the II, III, IIIa and IIIb that are different; I think the III, IIIa and IIIb are the same but the II is all alone as it has no lugs or speed dial (or disk in its place). Cutting your own Barnack skins is possible but complicated by the fact that they are so long that you need a bit of trigonometry to get them on the regular sized material from most suppliers (typically 30cm or 12 inches long, though Aki Asahi goes a bit longer I think)..I had the same issue and found out the iiif and the iiic have the same skin parameters. Masks are out. The hip new look in robbery is trench coats. Remember, that's what Vince Lupo was rockin' when he knocked over the Leica Store.Did you wear a mask when you bought them? ;o)
