I'm going to guess that, like me, you don't share the enthusiasm for the Lomo-verse that Jason Schneider showed in his latest post.I was almost wicked enough to suggest Lomography but I’m too kind 😂

Sheesh! At a glance, this could almost pass for 4x5. Certainly 6x9. Sometimes I do kick myself for sticking with film. Oops, was that out loud?Just came today--a new used Voigtländer Nokton Classic 35/1.4 MC II lens. Love the size and handling and the first photos tell me I'll like my results. Shot here on a Nikon Z5.

It was a cheap joke on my part. They have done a lot for the film community but I must admit that IMHO quirky does not always equal good.I'm going to guess that, like me, you don't share the enthusiasm for the Lomo-verse that Jason Schneider showed in his latest post.![]()

At the start there were too many sharp bits sticking up. I have tried some very fine abrasive paper (face up on a flat surface, rubbing the plate on it). It improves it a lot so I may continue and experiment. Given that a suitable replacement was available at the right price, I thought it the safer option. The bright side is that I now have two spare leaf springs, which may be needed one day if one pings out of the window 😂Stupid or malicious. Steel wool would I think make it usable (might be usable even as is).

Despite my seeming liquidation of much of my vintage camera collection (accumulation?), I'm holding onto most of my Hasselblads. I just ordered a 35mm adapter kit with the finder mask from Custom Camera Building. I see how you can use an A24 back to shoot 35mm albeit with some compromises. Willing to give it a try!

I've had a 120 camera — 35mm film adapter for some time now but not used it. I'll be interested to see what you get out of it.
I think that when the Plaubel Makina 67 I bought arrives back from the shop (it had a viewfinder problem on arrival), that will be the camera for me to experiment with it... something about that wide frame appeals to me.

What I might want to do is to make some kind of metal guides on either side of the film to help keep the film flat. The other thing is that I only have an NC2 prism finder (45-degree) so framing horizontally will be a bit interesting (not that I haven't done it before with this finder). I did have an HC-1 90-degree finder at one point but didn't really get on with it.I've had a 120 camera — 35mm film adapter for some time now but not used it. While pondering this camera I came across this on the internet:

Chuzhao Digital TLR Camera - Scam Or Legit? Read This
The internet is buzzing about an apparent vintage-style camera known as the Chuzhao that seems almost too good to be true. With its trendy throwback

It is almost as if the author has a personal grudge against this camera. Does it really have plastic lenses and does it matter???

Well it has a classic 1980’s design apparently! I will not say this to my 2.8F!While pondering this camera I came across this on the internet:

Is anyone able to do a lineup photo with a full Rollei, a baby, this one and the Minox? That would be fun.

I thought the problems with the S2 were inherent to the device and not due to heavy use. I'll be looking at S2s too therefore, thanks for the info 🙂You can't go wrong with the S2A. Like any camera, it has its quirks and its drawbacks. But the Nikkor and Zenzanon lenses are breathtaking, and inexpensive. I reach for my Bronicas as often as I do for my Hasselblads.
Don't be afraid of the foam replacement; I'm a ham-fisted oaf, but I've done that repair on three S2 cameras, and it went fine. I have found that even cameras sold with a CLA often have the foam problem, so plan on it.
And last of all, if money is tight, consider the S2 over the S2A. They tend to be much cheaper because of the reputation for stripped wind gears occurring. Bronica did beef up the gearing on the S2A, but that was because professionals used to machine gun them during wedding shoots. Wound properly, the S2 was perfectly capable and durable, and winding actually feels much smoother in use. Look for one in nice cosmetic condition, and you can probably assume it wasn't hammered by a pro.

No not at all -- a few years back, after Frank Marshman overhauled my S2, I asked him about this as well as the internet myth about 'brass gears'. He pretty much said what Retro-Grouch said -- that it was commercial photographers acting like gorillas and mashing that winding crank time and again. It had nothing to do with any design flaw in the camera (and BTW there aren't any brass gears). Matter of fact, I sold my S2a in favour of my S2.I thought the problems with the S2 were inherent to the device and not due to heavy use. I'll be looking at S2s too therefore, thanks for the info 🙂

Well, I payed less than 50 Euro at Aliexpress. The quality of the camera is okay for that price. Don't expect a professional tool. It is a fun gaget. While pondering this camera I came across this on the internet:

I haven't bought one, and have no plan to, but at that price anyone buying who thinks they are getting a pro-quality camera probably deserves to be fooled.Well, I payed less than 50 Euro at Aliexpress.
