What have you just BOUGHT?

This week i bought a Fujifilm Finepix S5800 from a local outdoor market. No manual and no software discs but it seems to work. I only stopped to have a look out of curiosity and was surprised to see the viewfinder was in focus even though I would've needed my readers to see the back panel clearly. I didn't get it straight away as I wanted to have a look in "Cash converters" and the other "big chain general item pawn shop" whose name I can't remember to see what they had in. There was a red Finepix S4200 (14 mega pixels) but I would've needed my readers to see the viewfinder image clearly, which rather surprised me. I later bought the S5800 (8 mega pixels) as a way of getting used to digital cameras. I mostly want to use it for record shots of my proper photo gear. It'll be interesting to see the results compared to those I get from the Kodak Easyshare M520 which I used for that purpose until now.

It never ceases to amaze me that so many members are happy to show photos of stuff they've ordered before they've received it. If I even download a photo, or manual, of Something I've ordered there's almost always enough wrong with what I've ordered to make me send it back. This happens far, far less frequently if I don't download anything info/photos of it first.

seany65, just so you know, this is the first time I've ever posted a gear photo in this thread. I did, however, post a photo last week #13,844 of one of the first photos I had taken with another new-to-me lens. Normally I'm not a gearhead but I just thought it appropriate to join in the discussion recently.

I have been on a hunt for the rumored 35mm FOV Voigtlander Kontur off and on for years. I just stumbled across this one. This is different from other Konturs I have or have seen. The metal frame looks thinner, the screws are centered, not on the outside edge of the frame. The frame lines also go to the outer edges on the sides and look like they take up much more of the vertical space too.

As a comparison this is a typical Kontur that has a 50mm FOV, I have a couple of these.

The top one was cheap so I'm giving it a try. Likely going to be disappointed again but fingers crossed.

Well logiclly, there can’t be a lot wrong. I suppose that the black could be so scratched that you can actually see through it. Lucky you to get a 35! I have 50mm, 6x6 and 6x9. I must admit I haven’t checked how different the 50mm and 6x9 are.

Yup, I meant more disappointed if it turned out to not being 35mm FOV. Will find out soon enough.

IMO the Kontur represents so much the spirit of Voigtländer back in the days. They were innovative and totally different than the others.

Here we go then..... ;)

Just took a chance and bought this Nikon FM, plus what looks like a 50/2, the dreaded 'untested' but what I have found most times when buying from 'non' Camera folks on EB, there is usually nothing major wrong as they genuinely don't know anything about Cameras and or testing them and I find that when a Lens has a filter on it, is a sign of 'care' from the original owner, I know I am being impatient as I've been waiting for a cheap Black one for a few months now and never around when I have the funds, this looks clean under the dust but we'll see.

That actually looks like a Nikkor 35/2 or maybe a 28/2 instead of a 50mm. Both lenses are quite good. As is the 50mm.
