It would make sense to me to get a digital Nikon body with the old Nikkor 35mm 1.4. I could use the lens on my old Nikon F2.
Rationalization is a useful tool for the clever. Perhaps it is divination. To quote Aretha Franklin, "Don't fight the feeling." ;o)

I do exactly this. My AIS lenses work on all my film bodies. They are also programmed into my D750 so that the metadata is correct when I use one of them there. The majority of the time - at least recently - the lenses used on my D750 are: 20mm f/2.8 AIS, 35mm f/1.4 AIS, 28-70mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-D.
The 28-70mm AF-D deserves particular mention for digital. These lenses are dirt cheap because they are not super fast and do not autofocus as quickly as the new generation of VR AF lenses. Because people want the latest whiz bang stuff, these tiny zooms can be had for $50-75 US in great condition. They also work on any AI coupled film body like the F2 with a DP-12 finder, or the F3-F6.
That zoom is tack sharp. A camera that has excellent noise performance like the D750 can overcome the modest speed of the lens by cranking up the ASA. I went to Italy last year and shot all my monochrome film with a Leica IIIf and two lenses. ALL my digital was shot on the D750 and the 28-70mm zoom. I got wonderful results in a relatively simple and small package. Examples - note that these were downsampled from 24 Megapixel originals:

(Now my fancy 24-300mm VR sits almost unused.)

The AI Nikkor 35mm f/2 was my standard 35mm SLR lens from 1980 until 2003; used it on Nikon F, F2, FE2, F3, FM, and FM2 bodies for those 23 years, with never a problem or any feeling I needed a better lens.

Whatever
These days I’m really limiting my camera-related purchases. However I did just get a Canon T-50-2 clamp-on lens hood for a recently-acquired 120mm f/4.5 Rodenstock Imagon lens for my Hasselblad 1000f. The lens is a 48mm outside measurement and the Canon seemed to be the only hood that would work (aside from an original Rodenstock hood of course which would be tough to find on its own). It fits perfectly and makes the opening and closing of the Imagon’s ‘strainers’ a lot more convenient.

I got one of them hoods....and several others from the Canon RF realm. I have no problem "cross pollinating" with other lenses.
Looks nice too Vince.

It was one of those lenses I never thought I’d find. It was quite a stroke of luck that it just happened to pop up on eBay. It’s not ‘complete’ (missing one ‘strainer’, the hood and the box) but I’ll take what I can get and thankfully the Canon hood works.I got one of them hoods....and several others from the Canon RF realm. Mamiya 16 Deluxe, it actually works methinks, just a bit of shutter lag after the button press which a good clean may resolve but regardless it looks and feels lovely, inc case and strap, a small button missing from the back and no cartridges but 3D prints are available or I'll be patient and find an original.
Worth the £15 to me, even for shelf candy.

I had some unexpected money come in from a friend settling an old debt. I picked up a Sigma sd Quattro with PG-41, 30/14 and 14/1.8. A Zeiss Ikon Contina Ia should be here today and a Sigma BF Wednesday. Plus a few accessory VFs for the Nikon RF kit to supplement the varifinder.

That was some Super Bowl debt. ;o)
