What have you just BOUGHT?

I have wanted one of these for a while, and this nice kit came up in Japan. It was sort of expensive for me and my history in buying used equipment, but is in great shape and there was a lot there for the money. Well, it became more expensive fast since it exceeded the $800 limit. I had to pay duty plus a steep processing fee. It was on the entire amount, not just excess over $800. This is my first bite from the 10% trump tariff tax, and probably my last unless things change. Just a warning for overseas purchases. (No, Japan doesn’t pay this tariff.)

Awesome, I have the same combo.

I had to reglue the RF mirror and while I was in there masked the framelines to only show the 100mm. Very fun camera to shoot.

I think I saw that post, I'll have to check it out once the camera arrives and see about how to do the same. I probably only plan to have one lens for it however I also only planed to have 2 cameras, so who knows haha.

Don't laugh. I bought a 30 year old digital Sony DSC S70. Bought one in 2000 for about $2000. The lens stopped moving in and out so I bought another for $35. I just got a third complete with original box and all accessories for $49, plus shipping. So why would I want a third? Her's why:

One small point of interest: Tariff/Duties above the di minimus limit of $800 existed well before the current US administration. Notwithstanding the various back- and forth on the matter politically, it's not like duties just suddenly came into play. That's why when you return to the US from international travel, you have to fill out the customs declaration card to list anything of value you bought.

Nice camera, BTW. I used one for years and had very good results from it. Enjoy!

A bunch of Ilford Delta 400 in both 35mm & 120 from my friends @ The Camera Store in Calgary.
I've been a faithful user of Tri-X, TMZ,TMY & love the QC & results, but in keeping with the buy no USA made products, I'll be using Ilford
for the foreseeable future.

40 Rolls of Aristapan 36 exp from Freestyle @ $4/roll. Have plenty of film in the fridge, but this seemed like a good value. Best I can tell it's Orwo NP100 -- nice film. Very difficult to pop the tops to get the film out for developing. In the future I'll leave a trail of film when rewinding. Got some Rodinal and Clayton F76 too.

Here's the disassembled Zuiko, assembled, it's in lovely condition.

Somehow he'd put it back together in the wrong order and the 2 black aperture rings ended up under the silver bracket [Pic 1], which had to be removed so I could take them off!

The silver ring [Pic 2] was in bits but found a YT Video on how it should look and this should be on the lens first, after that it went together pretty easy, probably could do with a proper clean but it's usable now.

Err, yeah, so....mmmm!

£11 later....

No idea if it works yet but it looks cool and an Itorex 28/2.8 with a free camera and filter isn't the end of the world....

Nice 👌

The slow speeds needed some exercising when I got mine (below 1/15th) but now everything seems to be working fine. I haven't used the self timer and I am not going to.

A hint for L series users: if your Praktica jams with the mirror up, try to gently exercise with your finger the tab, that pushes the aperture stop down pin of the lens. Usually that does the trick, it is a matter of hardened lubricant but will get better the more you use the camera.

A seemingly brand new Canon A-1 with 50mm f/1.8 for my wife.

Very cool!😎

For the first time in my life, I now have a Canon camera… 🙂

I was gifted a thrift store box of misc old photo stuff. In the bottom was a bag with some cheap 3rd party lenses and… a dirty neglected camera that I presumed was not working.

After my own cleaning and adjustments, it turned out this camera has barely even been used! It is in excellent condition and I have shot two rolls of film already:

For a beginner’s camera, I am impressed. It is definitely a keeper!

Dave,
If it has the "wheezing" shutter, it's a pretty easy fix.
Bethanne's A-1 is a replacement for the AE-1 which I accidentally crushed while we were moving. I didn't know it was in a bag then plopped a bunch of stuff on top and voila. I hope she likes the A-1.

so about 2 weeks ago I bought a fed 2 from Ukraine along with an extra lens and they arrived yesterday...so I excitedly unboxed and here is what came!
fed a.jpg
The condition was stated as “Good condition. Working” so I proceeded to check it out through all shutter speeds...all looked good then I took the back off and ran through the shutter speeds again...all looked good until I got to 30 and 15 and noticed:
fed b.jpg
the closing curtain barely moving to the left :(
I guess it depends how one defines "working". I would greatly appreciate recommendations on how to remedy the shutter issue...think I'll keep it (rather than return it) and start slowly with a diy CLA effort and see how it goes. Both lens look good but will require some thorough mechanical cleaning, re-lubing. I'm going on a cruise next week and was hoping to take it along but not planning for that now...got the old nikon FE for the B/W pics I'll take.
Thanks
Tom

Haven't bought anything.
I'm struggling to avoid buying a Leica X1. I liked my X2 once upon a time, and was tickled to see a lovely X1 in black at a reasonable price.
... Ach.

But what I would really enjoy right now is a Curta Calculator ... just for grins!!

-> Best thing to do when one of these fits of GAS hits is to just keep looking for a week.
They usually dissipate on their own as rationality returns. <-

Whoa… I’m sure the A-1 is going to be perfectly wonderful.🙂 Sorry the AE-1 became a casualty…

This camera I have needs only a mirror bumper and I might as well replace the light seals at the same time. Not sure where to get those… but I have not noticed any shutter noise out of the ordinary yet, but I am working on a third roll with Eastman 5222 XX film and will keep an eye/ear on it. Thanks!🙂

So far it has been loads of fun.
