What have you just BOUGHT?

LOL!
I'm happy to report that I've never dented a Rollei 35! But then, I always keep mine in its case unless actually taking a photo.

I was picking up prints today at my local camera store (camerabar.com) and the proprietor showed me a German-made Rollei 35 he'd gotten in. He said it had no dents but sure enough, there on the top deck....

The body shell of the Rollei 35 is extremely thin. They were trying every way possible to save weight, it seems.🙂

Two sheets of camera covering big enough to do Barnacks in one piece without wastage (a post-war Barnack needs about 304mm so must be cut diagonally on A4). A near perfect match for 1950s vulcanite. Bought at the Micro Tools Europe closing down sale.

This is the best F4.

When they first came out this is the only one available with the smaller battery pack, MB-20.

When the MB-21 came out they called it the F4s and no one wanted the MB-20 anymore.

Nowadays the MB-20 is preferred and harder to find ($100+ just for the MB-20 on ebay) as it's much lighter/smaller. 🙂

A great condition F4 with no LCD leak for $210

Agreed! While. I think the F4 with the MB-21 looks super sexy, I want to keep it small. It is a beast of a camera already! 🙂

View attachment 4883725Not bought but gifted to me by one of the hosts of a camera podcast for Xmas. A 1st version Praktica KW. Seems to be working mechanically and pretty good cosmetic condition. I have a bunch of m42 lenses but this 50mm f2.8 Schneider Xenar looks pretty good on it.
a really nice camera, I had 3 differente versions. the lens should be a modified tessar design....... a piece of history

Does anyone know the root cause of the lcd leakage? Doesn’t seem to be an issue with lcd panels in general, lots of old calculators and other electronic devices older than f4s appear less susceptible. Something to do with getting knocked about perhaps?

The LCDs that I've worked with don't actually leak, and the liquid crystals themselves seem to last indefinitely. But the polarizing filters can fade or discolor, and the reflective foil backing can oxidize, causing areas of the display to appear dim or blackened.
