What have you just BOUGHT?

My mother-in-law bought me 20 rolls of Kodak cinema film (10x Vision3 250D and 10x 500T). I bought myself an additional 10 rolls of the 500T, as well as a Nikon 28-105mm zoom (the older version with an aperture ring so I can use it for all of my Nikon bodies) plus a few 62mm filters.

It’s my first zoom lens in ages. I used to use a 20-35mm and an 80-200mm extensively when I was working as a photojournalist, but I decided to get this one because it covers nearly all of the focal lengths I typically use, and it’s great for a one-lens kit for vacations. I brought four bodies and seven lenses on our Iceland trip and my wife was not amused, to put things lightly.

The 180mm is a fantastic lens. I have the RZ version and it’s nice and sharp and works well as a short telephoto for portraits.
That's what it's main use will be but not everything I have in mind for it, I let a cheap 65mm go a few weeks back that had a little fungus but the rear baffle was missing and that wouldn't be an easy find I thought, I didn't want a 90mm, although easier to find, as too short for my ideas and too long to be interesting for my head.

I'm looking forward to using it, got some old Agfachrome I'll be testing it with once the seals are done.

Voigtlander Vito IIa, from ShopGoodwill last week. Sent off to Advance Camera in Portland for a stuck shutter (yes, I know about turning the spindle inside). If anyone here bid on it, be thankful you weren’t the winner. Second time this year I’ve been burned there. Oh yeah, also four rolls of Kentmere 400.

The Vivitar 90-230 landed, it was sold as spares or repair as the aperture was non functioning but now it's been repaired it is functioning, for the money it was a cheap lens that will be used for closeup duties, it has an internal zoom and a tripod mount even though it's not that big or heavy....so handy things to have and if it's not good then less than a ten pound note and 20 mins to fix, the glass is clean enough with no marks or fungus. Nice actually.

As the inlaws put some dough in a card for me this year as an Xmas gift, thought I'd have a look on FB for some local goodies as it is cash and that's no good on EB anymore and picked this lovely thing up earlier from 10 mins away:

Manfrotto 055D/460MG Head complete with Op/tech Strap for a £10!

90/4 Leitz to go with M8.2. also from Roberts. (I think i saw the above Elmar too while hunting recently or maybe a likeness.)
I had the M-Rokkor version a few years ago and sold it, this version is better I think, so renders good and easier to shoot.

I haven't handled an OM-1 since I worked in Olympus USA camera service dept. in the 1980s...

Ah! buying a parts camera only to have it fully working....this time a Minox ML sold as for parts is working perfectly after I wanted to use it to fix the second MB I have that has a stiff aperture ring and the pieces that used to couple the aperture ring flew into the abyss. I prefer the ML/MB bodies over the EL due to using modern non mercury batteries.

This part from the youtube video I lost.

I guess I could message DAG if he has those parts to fix that broken MB that otherwise works? Unless anyone that has a broken MB/ML wants the parts one for the cost of shipping?

Is your prism ok? I got an OM 1 last week, removed that detoriated black foam but the prism is damaged (cleaning did not help, the foam etched the silver of the prism and even the chrome of the top cover on the inside).

Is it true that the OM 10‘s prism fits the OM 1?

Yes and OM20/30/40 Prisms work as well, the later model ones are made better so if you can find a junker but the top comment is interesting on the YT Video below.

The YT embed didn't work for me so just in case....

Been searching for this little "bugger' for quite sometime. Have never encountered another in a number of years. Topcon UV Mount Adapter which allows Topcon UV mount lenses to be used on Topcon RE mount cameras. Even though the UV lenses were somewhat "built down" vs the flagship RE lenses, they are interesting in themselves and their optical quality is pretty damn close to their expensive brothers. I have a number of each of both style of lenses and SLR's, RE Super, Super D, and Super Dm's to use, but am always looking for that very unique and rare accessory. I guess that is the joy of collecting, when it happens....

Just ordered this a couple of days ago — a 45 degree Lane-Prism for my Hasselblad 1000fs. It’s not a particularly common third-party prism for these old Hasselblads and I can’t find much information on them, but I was willing to roll the dice on it. I think it will be a nice addition to my ever-growing 1000f accessories collection.

Second 80mm went back due to a chip in the glass along with the worn away shutter speeds.

Gave up on my silver quest and hoping third time is a charm now for a standard lens.

Bought this from a photographer who said he brought it all over the globe making portraits for the last 20 year. He sent me some samples and it is certainly capable of making gorgeous images. Said it is one of his sharpest lenses, sounded a little like he was having a bit of sellers regret.

It came with the filter and hood and even a roll of Ilford 120 to test it.

Condition looks very good with just wear around the hood mount. All paint numbering is intact, glass looks great, shutter seems good at all speeds (will test them in a bit) and the focus ring is a little lighter than either of the 80mm Planars.

These were my final purchases from 2025. The Olympus has a problem with the on switch under the cover.. it sometimes does not turn on when you open the cover. Also if you squeeze it in the wrong place it turns off. But otherwise seems to function perfectly.
The Mamiya I bought from a guy down the street. I don't really need it but I like to buy local!
The Tower 46 is a Nicca made Leica with improvements. The lens is a Nikkor 5cm f1.4. what I didn't understand is why this lens is fetching 2x the price because it has a black aperture ring?? Any guesses other than the rarity?

The Tower is a great camera. I had mine serviced by Youxin Ye and it is the smoothest LTM or M mount camera I own.

A Nokton Vintage Line 28mm f1.5 aspherical type II lens and the hood from Cameraquest. I wanted a fast 28 mm M-mount lens for film and digital. Fred Miranda did a very thorough comparison of this lens against the Leica Summilux 28mm f1.4 lens on his website. The results showed the Voigtlander held up well against the Leica in all aspects of lens function, IQ, and rendering, sometimes better.....except in the price category!! Leica won hands down at 6-7 times more expensive bought new. This voigtlander is one solid lens, maybe the best V purchase I've made. Out today for some landscape shooting with this lens on one of the warmer days in the Philadelphia area this winter.
