What have you just BOUGHT?

Voigtlander Ultron 35/2 V2 in black paint. My only Leica 35mm lenses are 35/2.8 Summarons, so I wanted to try a modern 35mm without going to the hysterical expense of a 35 Summicron ASPH.

I haven’t had an opportunity to take any photos with it yet, but I must say I’m very impressed with the build quality. Very smooth focussing, firm aperture clicks (more like my Summarons than 28/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH II), immaculate construction, and it’s absolutely tiny yet perfectly comfortable to use.

Well under AUD$1,000, too, or about 20% of the local price of a used current version 35 Summicron ASPH.

A Nokton Vintage Line 28mm f1.5 aspherical type II lens and the hood from Cameraquest. I wanted a fast 28 mm M-mount lens for film and digital. Fred Miranda did a very thorough comparison of this lens against the Leica Summilux 28mm f1.4 lens on his website. The results showed the Voigtlander held up well against the Leica in all aspects of lens function, IQ, and rendering, sometimes better.....except in the price category!! Leica won hands down at 6-7 times more expensive bought new. This voigtlander is one solid lens, maybe the best V purchase I've made. Out today for some landscape shooting with this lens on one of the warmer days in the Philadelphia area this winter.

Hi, I also bought one of these after reading Fred Miranda's review. Use it on my M4-p and here on my M240. One of the few lenses works just as well on film or digital. I cheaped out and put a screw in vented hood, saved a fortune. Taking it out today for a spin.

IIIf Canon 28mm2.8 1 800.jpg

Ensign Carbine 5 1 800.jpg

Very happy with these three purchases: Leica IIIf in pretty much mint condition; Canon 28mm f2.8 likewise; the Ensign Carbine No.5, which I've yet to put a film through. I also bought a Canon 50mm f1.4. I've still to send off the first roll from the IIIf, 31 shots completed, so I should finish it today.

Photos taken with the Leica Monochrom Typ 246, Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f1.5.

Love my IIIf. Look for clean/haze free Color Skopars in LTM. They pair beautifully with this body. I have the 21mm f/4, 35mm f/2.5, and 50mm f/2.5. Razor sharp and contrasty.

For a more ethereal look, an uncoated 50mm f/3.5 collapsible Elmar does beautiful things with light sources and specular light

Congrats!

Argus FA camera for £8!
Incidentally - what do you do with old leather camera cases?
Leather cases are a problem and certainly no good for storing cameras. I have boxes of them mouldering away in the attic since I do not have the heart to throw them away. Even LTM Leica ones fetch very little and don't do much if anything for resale values.

But one day you might actually need one...who knows...

If they are in good condition I condition the leather and keep them. I don’t store cameras in them long term though. I keep camera in a storage closet with some desiccant so they stay in relatively dry air and at least a little airflow. Many cases aren’t with keeping at all. I got two recently with an old Weirton and an Argus that were either in here condition or smelled so bad I didn’t want them in the house and they went straight to the trash.

i had a little film haul: 5 rolls of Fomapan 100 in 120 for 10€ plus shipping(ebay, not expired), a roll of Orwo NP27 (expired 1985), a roll of Orwo NP20 (expired 1989),2 rolls of Fomapan 200 in 35mm and a 17 meter bulk roll of Fomapan 400 in 35mm. Soon to arrive from the guy that sold me the Orwo rolls for 3,50€ is a sealed 10 pack of Orwo NP22 probably expired in the late 80s. He just wants 20€ including shipping for the 10 pack. Seller is a very nice guy, who actually does not care for turning a few euros of profit on that film. it was me who suggested the 20€.
If the Orwo turns out to be usable i think i will be 90% set for the year with that and what i have stashed anyways. Or maybe i'll just shoot more and blast through the cheap film

This Hasselblad experience has been ‘interesting.’ (Meaning very frustrating)

Trying to get a trifecta together.

Took the 100mm off ( camera/lens cocked) to try a 150mm from KEH. The 150s shutter was a mess. Never closing for 1 second through 1/4, slower speeds above that shooting at around 1/300th, 125th shooting faster than 1/250 and so on. Annoyed by another defective KEH lens (also had separation) I went to put the 100mm back on and realized the helicoid had turned below the MFD when I removed it. Helicoid is now jammed. 🙁 Sent emails to Barn Owl and Frank Marshman but haven’t heard from either yet.

On the plus side this arrived today and looks great. Haven’t measured shutter speeds yet but they sound good and it was priced well.

Also received a replacement foot for the Hasselblad that is ARCA compatible. It doesn't fit my body correctly though, the manufacturer is going to see about adapting that to fit.

In giving HejnarPhoto measurements to adapt his plate to my 503CX I mentioned that it would be great if the plate could be lower profile. It had a foot that made it about twice as tall as it needed to be. He sent me a prototype (not anodized) plate to test fit. That arrived today too.

With the thinner profile the screws he included were too deep up front. I used shoter flat heads to test fit.

hi all, just bought 17m of Fomapan 100asa should be here tomorrow if storm Goretti does not get in the way, also 1935 edition of the Rolleiflex book has more photographs plus the model of Rolleiflex 622 camera recently bought. also cheap 35mm bulk film loader, look forward to putting film through the Exakta IIB, have lusted after this camera since seeing one years ago in camera shop in Dale street Liverpool in the late 60's,

Well, the Lomo LC-A 120 that I ordered arrived.
  • It was not new ... I paid for a new camera ... it had been repackaged.
  • Outer box had normal shipping wear on it. Product box not packed tight enough...
  • Product box was able to shift freely 2 inches in the outer box. This allowed the camera to break the retaining plastic form in the product box which jolted the lens cover to half-way position and slammed into the neckstrap eyelet hard enough to bend it, preventing the back from opening.
  • The included cable release was broken.
So I wrote Lomography, then called, and it is on the way back to them; a refund is headed my way soon as it arrives. 😶

Good news: The ten packs of Fujifilm InstaxSQ B&W I ordered arrived.
