What have you just BOUGHT?

Bottom feeding -- Retina 1a (with Ektar and Synchro-Compur), Kodak Instamatic 250 (decontented version of the 500, with Reomar, made in Germany), and, because he had one, a Diana. All those, plus two Royal office typewriters -- Model 10 from ca. 1930 and HH from early '50s. All for $80 -- probably paid too much but he's trying to downsize and he's a nice guy.

Unlike other Retina 1a's I've seen the Ektar is completely clear. The viewfinder is hazy, but that's minor.

This Zeiss Ikon Nettar wasn’t really on my list of wanted cameras but it was cheap and working. When I saw the initials on the case I had to buy it though. View attachment 4885450View attachment 4885451
I think I have this same camera, though I'd have to check which shutter it came with. Takes impressive pictures for its modest specification! I didn't get a cool case like that with mine, however.

Of late, 2 Vivitar 365 flashes-for $5 plus shipping. Both of them work. Bought mainly for the power cord. This morning, something I've wanted for a long time-a Spiratone 18mm superwide angle for my Nikons.

I've seen them listed on Ebay for as high as $300 !

today my most recent ebay acquisition arrived: A Welta Weltax with Viktar 4.5/75 and a boring Junior shutter. Probably build between 1947-1950 if i am not mistaken. I thought i might get it for 1€ on ebay, which would have added to reasonable 7€ including shipping. Someone outbid me and i got lost in the bidding war, ended up winning the auction, but had to pay 6,69€ for the camera plus 6€ shipping. Quiet a hefty price tag for such a cheapo 5€ camera if you ask me. Especially considering the very rough condition. It did not look as beat up on the crappy photos, probably all taken at just the right angle to hide the dirt, sand, rust and dents.
Anyways it came with a 6x4,5 mask, which is a big win for me, as it enables me to finally do 6x4,5 shots on any 6x6 Weltax.
The shutter still works. No need to tension the shutter at any time. fast double exposures are possible. probably needs a bit of cleaning to get the T mode to work reliably. Sometimes it just acts as B. T needs to work since there is no shutter release cable socket and long exposures would probably still be a good task for this camera (i.e. at beaches or in the swamp).

There was a film in the camera with 4 shots left on the roll. Of course i took these shots and am currently developing the roll. I doubt i'll get good results because half of the roll is stuck to the backing paper and i just left it on there. It is Orwo NP20 from a long time ago. We shall see what might happen. As long as i got my 645 Weltax mask i am happy

There are still two problems: After opening and closing fine in the beginning, the door will not stay shut anymore. It seems to be the same problem that my post-war Welti developed: The spring (i think it connects the latch to the button at the bottom) in the body mounted part of the door latch might be broken or out of position. Those shappy post-war springs! Never seen a pre war Welta with that problem (i haven't seen many 😉 )
The other problem is obviously the missing leatherette. It is still on position at the back, but it is just losely stuck on there, the glue is doing nothing anymore. Might replace it or try to get the front to be silver shiny if possible. We will see.

No idea why i write so much text on such a piece of junk. Might be overjoyed because of the 645 mask

No, it's a nifty little camera. I love these lesser known German marques -- Balda, Certo, Franka, Welta. Not familiar with that lens or shutter though. As for the missing leather on the front, keep it shiny! You never know when you'll be lost in the wilderness and need to be able to signal rescuers....

I do actually love the cameras too. Especially pre war 35mm folders. They are still pretty cheap to get sometimes. Pre war Weltas have never let me down. They are so amazingly solid. What i wrote about the door latch spring is only half ironic. Due to my experience DDR Weltas have crappy springs. with the 1930s 35mm rangefinders i found the split image in the Balda Super Baldina to have the brightest RF of all i have tested. On my Baldina it is brighter than on many old Zorkis and Feds. All the Weltinis i have seen so far have very dim rangefinder patches. Very sad because their rangefinder could feel very modern if it was brighter.

I am slowly becoming a Welta collector, with this being my fifth Welta. I kind of bought all the Weltas that were on offer for cheap within a 45 minute drive radius. Only one is left, but that guy wants 70€, i want to give him 10€. Been texting this guy every couple weeks for a few month now.lol Nobody but me wants his crappy Weltax

He will agree with you eventually! (Maybe come up to 20 Euro?)

yes, 20€ is my goal too! best would be a "20€, if it is in good condition" and than go there, mention the broken leatherette on the front and get it for 15€. i'll actually just text him right now.
took the Orwo roll out of the development and yeah with back paper glues to the film there is not much to rescue. The 4 pics i took came out fine and the negs look surprisingly sharp. Looking forward to the scans tomorrow

Be patient!
Some people think just because the gear is old and dirty and "vintage" it is also very valuable.
It is not.
Sooner or later someone other sells a Welta. Maybe much more beautifuller.
Just be patient. And sooner or later you will get more than you can store.
. . . .
I hope you also use them and dont let them collect dust in the cabinet ;-)

Aaaahhhh
I got one
I got one
After more than a decade of searching
And I was the only bidder
A Voigtländer F -> S/C Adapter

Now I have not only one for the 12mm but also one for the 15 mm Voigtländer and I can mount it on my Nikon Rangefinder 🙃

Life aint that bad ;-)

Ah, love a Certo, the original ones anyway - nice build quality and a lovely bit of quirk to them..
I got one of these (Dollina III, Radionar) that's in bad shape. Shutter works fine but the RF is very dim and the viewfinder -- quite dark and unusable. I'm afraid to try and take it apart to clean it; too many things to remove. But hope springs eternal, since it's a really neat camera.

I bought $50 of miscellaneous darkroom chemicals from B&H.
The fixer, washing aid, wetting agent etc. I had were old, so better safe than sorry.

I had purchased ADOX Rodinal and Syrup 110 film developers last year.
