What have you just SOLD?

Today I sold a Fujifilm Finepix HS30EXR because I just couldn't get on with it. Some bits were good, like the fairly sharp image in the viewfinder and the dioptre correction dial and the manual focus, but there were more annoyances such as all the Icons in the viewfinder covering the image, and other stuff I can't be bothered going into.

I had only bought it a couple of days ago.

More things headed out the door. I sold my Nikon D4 and a Nikon 24-70/2.8 lens, I just sold my VP Exakta Model A, a Stereo Realist Manual first edition (with the glasses), some Hasselblad accessories, my RB Graflex Series B and my Duplex Super 120.

Left to sell are my Jeanneret Monobloc kit, my Contessa-Nettel Deckrullo tropical kit, Ernemann Miniatur Ernoflex kit, maybe my Hasselblad Super Wide (SW) kit and a couple of Hasselblad lenses.

EDIT - Deckrullo Tropical sold! Yippee!

I finally sold my Nikkor SC 50/1.4 LTM lens. I loved the lens and have had it a long time but I just love the f/2.0 version of this lens so much (the 'HC') that I never used it.

There is just something about the Nikkor 50/2.0 HC LTM lens that floats my boat. I don't know what that is, but I know many of my favourite images have been taken with it.
It's such an unassuming little lens and despite the devil of GAS in my ear, I just can't summon the energy to add a Leica LTM 50mm lens because I really don't need it.

Finally sold both my Contessa-Nettel Deckrullo Tropical kit as well as my Jeanneret Monobloc monster set. I also sold a nice Hasselblad cut film back set with eleven holders and my Ernemann Miniatur Reflex kit. The only things left to sell at the moment are my very nice 1957 Hasselblad Super Wide (SW) kit and another Hasselblad cut film back set. After that I think I’ll take a break.

About to sell my absolutely pristine Hassy 250mm CF. I have a 180mm and virtually never use the 250. I have way too much gear in that bag and there will be other lenses that must go, I just cannot decide which ones ...

I sold off all my IXMOO reloadable cassettes that have grey spindles. Sixteen of them. I find them difficult to load with the Alden day light loader I use now. I found them difficult to load when I hand loaded in the dark closet. No problems with the dark spindles, and I have more than enough for 400' of film. But the grey spindles are a PIA to load.

I have a somewhat strict rule to sell/give away anything I don't use in a year. It resulted in getting rid of stuff I wish I now had, but generally it's a good rule.

I'm currently in the process of unloading a small pre-war collection of Zeiss Ikon Contax II rangefinder cameras. What art deco masterpieces!! I sold a beat up one with a "Z" serial numbers, which means it was mede in 1935, about the 200th Contax II ever made. The Jena is gone. I have one still in box, with hang tags, unused strap, instructions, other papers -- looks like it has never been used. A couple lenses in boxes. Not much demand for this stuff. I had one repaired and shot probably 50 rolls of film through it over the years. A novelty, but what incredible, lovely hunks of metal.

I'm happy to sell stuff when demand drives up prices to crazy highs, but I don't want to unload too much, lest I create a vacuum which demands filling!

Sold one of my Macris-Boucher ‘Nil Melior’ glass plate stereo cameras, leaving only one stereo camera left in my collection (which is another Nil Melior but with a 120 roll film back, ironically one of the first stereo cameras I purchased). I also sold a very nice Konica Autoreflex T4 with two lenses, a Mamiya 645 1000s and a Nikon L35AF.

Left to sell (for now!) is my Tiranty Leica IIIa with a really nice Summar lens, a clean Canon AE-1 kit and maybe - just maybe - the Graflex Norita that’s presently being serviced.

Two lenses, a Leica Summilux-R 80mm/f1.4 and a Leica Summicron-M 75mm/f2. Sold to off-set purchases of an RRS tripod, ball head, panorama clamp, and airfare for an upcoming trip to Isle of Skye and other locations in Scotland for landscape shooting. Dublin for a few days on the way.

Your trip to Scotland sounds like terrific fun! Please post some pictures here at RFF when you get back.

All the bet,
Mike

Thanks Mike! Leaving late July for two weeks, my photographer brother and I having planned this trip for a long time. Our vacation times finally matched. I'm looking forward to sharing some photos here.

A pre-war Contax II in original box with collapsible 50/2 Sonnar. Minty, but all frozen up, because it probably had never been used. Came with all the hang tag, papers, manuals, ect., all in German. Even the camera strap and remote shutter cable never used in their original cardboard containers. Don't know the history, but what a time capsule. Made a little money, buyer got a good deal. Win, win.

Sold my Fuji Instax Neo 90 kit - I’ve finally determined that I’m not an instant photography/Polaroid person, so off it goes. I also just sold a Pentax K2 kit that needs a bit of help, and finally my 1957 Hasselblad 500C kit (a real sweetheart of a camera kit). BTW I’m keeping the Graflex Norita.

Left to sell are my serviced Tiranty Leica IIIa, a Sekonic Studio Deluxe III L-398A light meter, some various Leica items, and both of my Ermanoxes which will be in tomorrow’s Leica auction in Wetzlar.

I’m still in sell-off mode and we’re now getting to be pretty thin on the ground (well at least ‘thin’ by my standards!). My Tiranty Leica IIIa with a Summar lens and VIOOH just sold, a 35/2.8 Canon LTM kit sold along with the Leica, an Ikoflex II sold that I just picked up, the Sekonic Studio Deluxe light meter and a like-new Minox spotting scope. Oh yeah and both of my Ermanoxes sold recently at the Leica auction in Wetzlar.

Left to go are just some minor things — a nice Canon AE-1 with a recent service, a couple of Soligor lenses in Konica AR mount, a 9x12 changing plate back for a Gaumont Spido, and my scarce Hasselblad 60/4 Distagon (currently out for service). After all that sells I’ll just be left with a few Hasselblad 1000fs, the 907x, Nikon Z7 stuff for work and the two Graflex Noritas. Overall a good place to be.

Wow, you must have extremely "good" prices or extremely lucky to have sold the quantity of pieces you have recently? Ebay or what?

Mostly eBay with the exception of the two Ermanoxes. I’ve also sold locally through a FB film photo group to which I belong. The one thing about my eBay sales is I ship internationally, so from the States to Japan, China, UK etc. Luckily I haven’t had an issue and everyone’s been happy with my stuff. Plus I think my prices are fair and everything is well-described and photographed - evidently the buyers think so too!

I could have held out for more money with a lot of the items I sold, but I listen to what the market is telling me. Of course I’d love to sell things for more money but I can’t hold onto things forever in the hopes of getting an extra hundred dollars.
