The M5 is the last bench-made rangefinder coming out of Wetzlar.
The accuracy of the M5 light meter is unmatched by any other Leica rangefinder body.
The only downside, in my opinion, is its size.
If the M5 size or shape turns you off, then vote for the M2, with its magnificent uncluttered viewfinder.

Adding a Leicameter to an M2 makes it about the same size as an M5. So I'd rather have the M5 with the shutter speeds and analog meter needle in the vf.
Along with easier film loading with the tulip spool.
