What is the single best thing you've learned on RFF?

Also ... that give some people a computer and an internet connection and all decency and respect for others goes out the window! 🙂

i've learned that no matter how many images i post or where i post them...almost no one makes a comment.
i've learned that there sure are lots of good people in this world.
i've learned that gear is a highly personal decision and that there is no perfect camera bag.
i've learned that assholes lurk here and they never seem to learn how to play well with others.
i've learned that my experience here at rff is completely different from yours and his and hers...

This one...

In internet photography forum land coming to RFF feels a bit like going from high school to uni - suddenly you realise that you know bugger all and all your work sucks.

and this one...

I've become less concerned with what equipment I use. I've learned more since coming here over the last year about developing my own films than I did in the whole three years studying photography at uni.

I have also found that my photography is better than I thought and that there are many talented, interesting photographers that deserve to be as well known as the greats.

I learned about the excellent Zeiss Ikon M system and those wonderful ZM lenses.

Using this camera has a significant on my work.

I've learned many other things as well. But the ZI M system had the most impact.

I have learnt that I am not the only die hard shooting film and loving it ! That making a good photo is like a family recipe. We all have our own individual ways and all are equally valid. One may love Rodinal and all but bathe in the stuff, whilst another may hate it passionately. I guess I have learnt to respect difference and celebrate it.

I like this post. It's the antithesis of some other posts in this thread.

Thanks.

it's trivial: ..that lack of sharpness only very rarely degrades a photo

and: that photography first of all portraits the photographer.
and that, how a photographer comes across e.g. by what he writes, influences how much I enjoy viewing his photos

That there's a great community 'out there' who mostly feel the same about 35mm rangefinder film photography as I do, and are ever willing to share their knowledge and expertise.

Other than this, Erik Van Straten's consistently wonderful black and white photographs. They should be made into a book; I'd buy a copy. 🙂

I've learned that a lot of people are obsessed by gear and only few people discuss actual photos and photography on this forum.

If you can find another photo forum that is as lively as this one, where the above statement does not apply, let me know.

Clearly I am failing to follow Darthfeeble's excellent advice "to ignore asinine posts" BUT....

I find many image driven threads here and even RFF's gear portion is actually "photo-centric." Most (not all) lens/camera points are asked and answered as they relate to how that particular item serves the resultant photographs.

One rarely sees lens charts or brick wall pics here. RFF members know that 95% of all lenses are better than 95% of all photographers.
