I thought the same thing when I converted the price from Yen to USD. Then again, the production run was only 200 copies. Pretty hard to offer a low price and quality with such a small run.
Exactly... hand made, limited run, smallest M lens ever, etc.

I regularly use the CV35/2.5 on my CL.
The outside edge of the 40mm frame works well with this lens.
Good glass!

I'm not sure if there would be a clearance issue but my J12 is small and a sharp lens and inexpensive. Mine was shimmed for LTM so it works great on my M bodies!
One sold recently on Ebay for over USD $1,100. Good luck finding one for $700.
Where? The completed auctions show nothing...
Thanks Jon. I may have to look into selling mine.

I love my 40mm f/2 rokkor-m so I say either that or the 40mm f/2 summicron-c (basically the same lens)

very good lens, and compact
very good lens, and compact
I've had the M mount, and now the ltm mount, very small, modern look, virtually no distortion (rare among RF 35mm lenses).
Downside, is flare when shooting directly into the sun, e.g. not as good as a 35 cron asph, but for the size, and cost, it's a great lens if 2.5 is fast enough.

I like the 50mm f/3.5, but $650 would be too much. I'm leaning towards the CV 35 f/2.5, which is in the $300 range it looks like. Does that lens come well recomended? or are there better options in that price range for 35-50mm lenses?

I don't think the CL has 35mm framelines, but if you are willing to use a 35mm lens, the CV 35 f/2.5 lens is apparently tiny. Although the 40 f/1.4 is hardly large either.
.
I confess I'm new to this whole Leica CL thang...but, based on your parameters of small and cheap (the lens you want, not you specifically), isn't Yhbv's suggestion the best choice?
I mean it's a pancake at $409 from CameraQuest with free shipping.
"Voigtlander 35/2.5 Pancake II M MOUNT, Compact Leica M mount lens, black only, same glass as 35/2.5C, For ANY M mount camera! $409"
But, I may be missing something....again.
Robt.

Summaron 35/3.5 in screwmount is very small and doesn't collapse. Also doesn't intrude into the body.
