I went to see "Blood Diamond" the other night (very good film by the way). In the film, Jennifer Connely's character uses, what I thought at first to be a Leica MP. But as one of the later scenes flashed across the screen, I thought I caught sight of a fourth window along the top of the camera (in between the rangefinder window and the window that allows light in for the framelines). I checked online when I got home and sure enough, her camera has four little windows across the front (see HERE). Am I completely ignorant? 😕 Is this a real Leica body? What is it?😕

M6 classic,
red dot on the lens release button means its not M7/ M6ttl/MP I think,
the silvery bit at the base of the main window means its not M4-2/M4-P

I concur, and I agree there is some kind of shiny black tape over the red Leica dot above the lens, which is probably a 35mm/2 Summicron, Version 4. The tape does make it look like a fourth window, which is not on any M-mount body, so far as I know.

I zoomed in and it's definately gaffers tape. There's also some tape where the "M7" is supposed to be. And yep, it's a pre-asph Summicron 35/2.

Well, regardless of the model at least she knows how to properly hold the camera! I've seen countless people pick up my leica and grab the lens from the top, soon to wonder why they can't see anything or focus due to their hand being in the way...

Ms Connolley can definitely hold my body any day... uh... I mean...uh... my camera body.

Oh yeah, It's definitely an M6 Classic. There is only "silvery bit" at the bottom of the main finder window.
