So I have had my OM-D for about 2 weeks. It works great with my pany 14/2.5. however, with the pany 20/1.7 it goes dead at variable intervals (10 minutes or up to 2 hours). It just goes completely dead, even with a full battery. When I take the battery out and put it back, it starts back up again. This happened also once with my pany 25/1.4, but happens the most with with the 20/1.7. It has not happened at all with the 14/2.5.
SO my question is, is this a software issue, lens compatibility issue or what? has anyone else have this problem? do I need to worry and send it back?

i use all 3 of those lenses on the pen and have never had it turn off, something definitely sounds wrong. i'm not sure what it is but i don't think it's a compatibility issue. good luck sorting it out.

I would clean the contacts on the lenses and camera first.

Olympus has announced that there is a problem using the Panasonic 20 on the OMD. They are currently working on a firmware fix as we speak. Hang in there.

The problem with the 20 is horizontal banding at high iso. This does sound like a contact issue.

I found a bunch of threads on dpreview, apparantly many folks are having the same problem , using OM-D and various panasonic lenses, not just the 20mm.
I will wait and see......

I use Panasonic lenses exclusively on my OMD and have no problems whatsoever. Only lens I don't own is the 20mm.
I hope Olympus updates the firmware with a CA fix as well. It would be nice to do one less thing in post processing!

I'm having the same problem, too... with the 20.
I called Olympus and they seemed to know something about the problem, without admitting much.
I'm hoping that a firmware update will fix this problem, too.

I have to admit the looks didn't grab me until I saw one in the flesh ... then I was completely sucked in!
You have largish hands though don't you? Because it is tiny without the grip!

Happened to me once when I left my camera on for a few minutes with the 20 1.7. I can't bring it to wake, I did remove the battery and put it back voila alive again. Didn't happen again though, I wish a firmware will fix this as the 20 is my favorite lens on the OMD.
