What is your favorite camera setup for vacation?

Currently a Nikon F100 and 28mm f2.8 Ais and 50mm f1.8 Af D and 85mm f1.8 Af D. All lenses fast enough for hand held low light shots and interiors (never use flash). Preferred film HP5+ @Ei 200. No colour or digital.

I have two types of vacations.

Mellow, family, walkabout vacation: M2-R or M4-P with 35mm and 50mm. Bunch of Tri-X. Ricoh GR.

Scuba diving, dirt biking, hiking vacation: E-M5 Mk II with 9-18mm and 25mm + UW housing kit. Ricoh GR.

If I don't know flying with and/or obtaining films would be easy or not for the particular destination, then E-M5 Mk II with 25mm. Ricoh GR.

Always simple. I'm of the less is more school.
One week on Long Island - some work thrown in - I packed my M6 and a ZM 4.5/21. A fortnight later swapped the 21 for the CV 35/2.5 for a week in Trieste. Both times joined by a yellow filter and a JCH 5 roll box. If I'm going for a long time, I might bring two lenses, but more likely just more film. I'll take more if the purpose of the trip is photography - but still three lenses max.
Sometimes I miss a shot, but I always have fun. That's the most important part.

I've long ago abandoned the goal of traveling light for certain trips. If it's a once-in-a-lifetime trip to a destination that I may never visit again, I would rather bring everything including the kitchen sink than miss a perfect shot because I compromised on which lens to pack.

Destination also decides which lenses I to pack, e.g., my 200-500mm would be useful in a photo safari in Tanzania but not so much (at least for my style) in a typical European capital.

Same here. Last time I took a M645 with 4 lenses, 2 backs, motordrive and a Fuji 617. I have tried to get by with less but never felt satisfied. (ok, could leave the 617 at home)

First big trip in the 90s was 5 months backpacking through South America with 12kgs of Minolta SLR gear and slide film. Mind you, that included 90 rolls of slide film.

Most recently a week in Tasmania with Xpan 45, 90 , 35 AIS, Fuji Ga645ZI, M6 2 lenses, GR and tripod.

I haven't learnt.

I just travel with two cameras. One with a 21mm and another with a 35/50mm lens. I prefer to carry more film (or a variety of film) in my bag.

Obviously it's subject to modification based on several factors mentioned above, but I'm slowly coming around to a basic starting point of an LTM body with 2 or 3 lenses (25/50/100 is the basic kit I normally pull from) for B&W, and a 6x6 MF camera (usually my Perkeo II, but sometimes a TLR) for color. It's a struggle to limit it before the trip, but if I carry more I get bogged down trying to use everything.

Just got back from 1.5 weeks in Hawaii. I took a Mamiya C330f with 55,80,135,180mm lenses, tripod, 10 rolls Delta 400. And an Olympus digital point and shoot for the times I didn't want the Mamiya. I shot 7 rolls of the film and didn't use the Oly very much.

Depends on the vacation. For France, Leica M7 with 40/1.4 CV; two IIICs with 25, 28, 35mm Cv plus 50mm Collapsible Summicron; Leica/Panasonic D-Lux3 & D-Lux4.

For Colorado, Hasselblad 500C/M with 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, 100mm, & 150mm; Nikon FE2, FA, FM3a & D700 with 15 or 18mm, 20mm, 24 or 25mm, 28mm PC, 35mm PC, 35/2 Zeiss, 50/1.4, 90mm Elmarit in Nikon mount, 135mm Elmarit in Nikon mount, 180mm APO-Telyt in Nikon mount, 300 or 400mm Nikkor; Leica M6 & M2 with 21, 24, 28, 35, 50, 75, & 90. (I know it's too much stuff, but hey, I'm only 74.)

For Gettysburg, Two Leica M bodies with 3 or 4 lenses and a SWC.

For most airline trips, an X100, X10, and probably a D-Lux 6, all in a Retrospective 5 or a Domke F5XB.

The XPAN goes along on some trips.

I do actually use all or almost everything I bring, at least for a few shots. Not sure how long I'll want to keep bringing so much, though. Not getting any younger. Used to be, I brought a Leica M2, 35mm Summaron, and 90mm Elmarit, and a light meter. That was all I had, and it didn't occur to me to need anything more. Maybe I'll try a minimum-gear trip to see how it feels. Not sure what I would now consider minimum gear, though. OK,, on a recent car trip, I brought one Leica with 40mm Rokkor; X100; X20; D-Lux 6, all in the Retrospective 5. It was enough.

It depends on the destination, but 90% of the time I bring just my MP + 35mm

On my last trip I added an M6 + 50 sonnar just because I thought it was a far away, once in a lifetime type trip. I don't regret it but man, carrying two cameras is heavy. I once did 3 weeks with just a Ricoh GR1v, that's packing light !

Are you serious? That's just badass. Don't think I could get that lot of stuff in the back of the car.

Nikon D7000 with the 18-140 VR zoom.
Not pocket-sized, but fits under my arm for protection in crowds.
Canon G15 when traveling light.

my main travel gear would be:
M240
Avenon 28mm
Nokton 50mm

and my Iphone 6S+

if I plan on shooting film as well then I will either bring my M3 along or the F3HP w/ 28mm and 50mm

If I am going to be in a city like Lisbon or Paris I take my Olympus XA. It fits in my pocket and the 35mm lens gives me a better field of view for shots where I am limited as to how far away from the subject I can get. For less urban areas my choice would be my Nikon FM with the 43-86/f3.5 lens or one of my TLRs.

For December holidays in Kauai, GR + Dp3m. And a mini-tripod for aboveground video.
I.e, keep gear nearly as light as the clothes I wear (also, b/c I must carry my share of family towels, water, food).

-->Wait, there's snorkeling too. A GRD3 in a lucite housing, then, instead of one or the other land cams.

.......

...but were it a Robert-only/photography-centric trip, I'd pack a couple of big boys (GF670, A7/2-3 lenses, wait, maybe also the Contax G to have its lenses for the Sony, etc etc. ) I would also no doubt pack too many clothes. Hm, is there a correlation...?
