OK, we have been talking about what we all take travelling.

How about the camera which just makes you really enjoy the experience of photography?

NOT anything to do with what you use as a pro, or what has given you the best shot of your life, or is the most versatile.

WHICH KIT DO YOU JUST REALLY ENJOY EVERY TIME IT IS IN YOUR HANDS?

Mine is my iiif, 35 / 2.8 Summaron, 50 2.0 Coll. Cron, 90 4.0 (39mm) Elmar. I just love the mechanical precision and feel of this in use. Small size and common filter size (polarizer, yellow, green, orange) also help out.

It makes me think about composition and exposure much more than digital. I understand the emphasis on exposure, as it has no built in meter. I end up using my Sekonic 308 plus MKI "eyeballs & brain". Why does it make me think about composition more, I don't know. Maybe, since it really slows me down and I am sure about exactly what I want before the camera comes up to my eye. Sometimes with digital, I do take a quick grab shot and crop to get the photo.

I have never put a roll of color film into it, but absolutely love shooting B&W with it. The fingerprint of those lenses is something to be really appreciated on their own. They are different than my M8 and modern glass. Once they were CLA'd, they really began to sing.

I'm curious.

Best,

Ray

Im probably goin to get crucified for sayin this but at the moment the most fun im having is with my newly found Diana F.....plastic fantastic

My trusty Fed 2 and I-26 ... I don't care how the photos turn out 😱 ... it just feels great to use and the shutter sound is the best of all the cameras I own! 🙂

I think you're a classical music man Magus ... my other cameras are very much Chopin, Bach ... even Mozart. My Fed 2 is definitely Beethoven! 🙂

Does it have to be a camera? For me the real fun is in the darkroom. Not just fun, I would say that it is a sort of therapy... If I get back from work stressed, or I had an argument with someone I just disconnect the telephone (I really hate to listen that sound when I am, say, in complete darkness doing tray processing of a sheet film and I am listening at a metronome to calculate the time!), put on some nice Jazz music and develope or print stuff... Digital might be practical, but to me nothing quite equal that feeling... Just one negative can give you infinite fun...

Me too, I have a Diana, but just won a Diana F on the boy, if I find the bulbs I want to see how flash pictures look like.

Also I want to try one of the low quality Diana clones as soon as I get my hands on one (as if the Diana was high quality 😀 )

I think we should have a toy camera forum here 🙄

I was curious to see what everyone really enjoyed.

What has surprised me a lot is that many people also love the old full manual, "think about it", cameras.

Best,

Ray

For me the most fun kit is my beat-up M4-P with a CV 35/2.5 and a Luigi leather wrist strap, a real workhorse kit. However, I have to differ with you Ray. I like this older fully manual camera precisely because I don't have to "think about it." I don't have to worry about getting into a mind-set with this camera. It's old school photography, and I'm well acquainted with that. It is also so ugly that I don't worry about it as much as I would my M7 or my DSLR.

🙂

gosh.. I don't have just one.... I just feel they work better this way...

Nikon S with CV 21/4,
Nikon S2 with 85/2,
F36 with 105/2.5,
F2A with 24/28,
F3/T champange with 45 P/2.8,
F4 with 17-35/2.8
F5 with 85/1.4
D2H with 80-400 VR
D200 with 12-24/4..... don't blame me... is their fault!
