A guy posted this over on APUG. I encouraged him to post something on RFF, but he so far hasn't. So I will. Any idea what this is? It appears to be a Canon Vt with no trigger advance. Speculation is that it's either a Vt with a baseplate from an L1 (or some lever wind Canon). Or that it's a VL2 with the film advance lever removed and replaced with a knob wind.

Or is it some factory experimental thing? Thoughts?

Canon VL

Canon VL

Based on the pictures from Peter Dechart's book.
It is a VL ( similar to VT in appearance and function but no trigger lever at the base ).

Now unless it has been cobbled together from a VT top mated to an L1 or VL2 body then the film rewind knob is the wrong type for a VL and the serial number falls in the VT range.

When you look carefully at this camera it really doesn't fit with anything Canon made. Just when you think it's one model, some detail will suggest something else. Still wondering if it's a factory one-off or something created from mixing one model with another. The lack of the trigger wind or lever wind is baffling.
