I have been reading some of the FSU threads and people keep referring to a "Panda" I 61. I was wondering just what it is that make some I-61's Pandas?

the reason I asked is that My I-61 L/D is basically black but has a thin chrome strip in front of the the focus ring and another before the f stops. I looked up the database on the site but my number doesn't quite line up with any of the listed lens. My lens 2.8/53 No. 8972823, light amber coated.

People refer the balck and chorme one as the panda becasue it's like a panda bear (black and white).

I've heard that the I-61 L/D and the panda version are the same (maybe except for colour of the coating on the lens). I've also heard that the panda version is built better.

My I-61 is black and chrome..
Quality wise it performs as good as any 50mm I've used.
