What MF lens would adapt well for the m43 mount for EFL of 50mm?

I'm thinking of jumping into m43.. well at least until I find out more about Sony's upcoming release, in the meantime as part of my research I'm looking out for a 50mm EFL lens to use on either the E-PL1 or GF-1, any suggestions?

I'm finding it hard to look for anything generally compact, there's the 20/1.7 but I prefer the look of 50mm. There's also the Olympus 25/2.8 but with the m43 sensor the DOF is going to be pretty large at 2.8. I guess there is also the PanaLeica 25/1.4 but the size of it on any of the m43 bodies defeats the purpose of these cameras in certain senses.

the CV 25mm is a great lens. The older (non RF-coupled) and new (rf coupled) would work the same way on the m43.

By MF, the OP meant "manual focus."

Just get the Panasonic 20/1.7 for DOF control. If it's somewhat wide, crop a little.

I have a Pentax 25mm 1.4 CCTV c-mount lens that is just great. It can be had for around $100 or less, is manual focus (with the right adapter), is fast, tiny, and focuses close. Granted, it is not auto-focus and vignettes a bit, but with it I don't need the 20mm Panasonic that I thought I should buy.

Thanks for the suggestions I guess the Lumix 20/1.7 is prob is the closest fit that what I want, i.e. a regular fast 50mm EFL.

I've heard some good things about the Sigma 30/1.4 as well but it is bulky.

Just a question though, I've read that some lenses do not adapt well to the m43 mount. Would this be more the case for wide angle lenses as opposed to the 50mm and greater FL lenses?

C-mount lenses vignette a bit in 25mm, and more so as you get wider. My 13mm c-mount lens looks a bit like a tunnel (though I still like it).

Some people feel that wide Leica-mount lenses do not perform all that well in M4/3. I've used 25mm Canon screw mount lens, which was fine. There are plenty of people shooting with Voightlander 12mm lenses, which seem decent to me.

I'm using the CV 25mm f/4 on my E-PL1

I'm using the CV 25mm f/4 on my E-PL1

It's the non-cammed screw thread model. The LTM to m4/3 adapter I got was way too thin, but it was easy to make a .020" thick shim to put into the adapter, and now it focusses at exactly the distance it says on the lens barrel, including infinity.

The E-PL1 seems to have been designed with manual focus lenses in mind. Just press the zoom button, and the screen zooms in (7x, 10x, 14x - your choice) for precise focussing, then a button press to return to full view, and snap the photo. I usually open the aperture to focus, then stop down again. But sometimes I just zone focus in bright light.
