What shoes do you wear when shooting?

Since having a car in Tokyo is not practical, I get around mainly by bicycle and on foot. What shoes I wear depends on what else I am wearing, but my favorite shoes are either New Balance 983s (made in tne USA), or Prada America's Cup sneakers. Both are very comfortable, even when accompanying my girlfriend on one of her 10 hour shopping expeditions.

For the outdoors, I like Asolo boots. They are generally comfortable enough to not require breaking in, and even when wearing new boots on long hikes, they have never given me a blister.

Alden 405 boots. Once they break in they are just about the most comfortable shoes with proper support you could ever wear. I can't recommend them enough. Oh yeah, they were the boot that Indiana Jones wore (but I learned that AFTER I bought mine.)

I also have a pair of Alden 965's with crepe rubber soles that feel like walking on pillows.

The only other comfortable shoe with good support that I've loved were my desert suede boots I wore through 2004 and a bit of 2005 when I was in Iraq. They are amazing, but then again, if you live in a pair of shoes for almost a year straight; every day breaking them in and then walking through hell in them, they tend to get really comfortable.

my favorite would be the merrel moab ventilator mid...whether i am doing photography out in the boonies or on the sea wall or the beach or at an outdoor festival. i wear them all day at work and most of the time when i'm not at work...gotta get a second pair!! 😀

the first thing i do is remove the stock liners (use those as added extra padding in various camera bags) and replace them with sofsole brand inserts. i wear these with shorts, blue jeans or slacks...everything except a tuxedo. 😀

forget location, loacation, location...it is comfort, comfort, comfort!!! 😀

i'm a big guy and these rascals give me significant cushion and spring and comfort. they are ventilated and that's great until the air temp drops below 40 degrees fahrenheit (4 degrees celsius). for me, the tread on the bottom is an asset regardless of the surface i'm on. they are especially nice when schlepping around a ten or eleven pound camera bag.

I normally buy two inexpensive pair when I travel overseas and wear them out in a year... lot's of walking. Prefer leather but canvas is okay... no particular brand, but something light weight (Reebox) and of course depending on the weather (hot/humid, rain, snow, etc).

Clarks when I can get them, and something where the heel can be repaired if dress(-ish) type shoes. Never leather soles...

Unless I really must dress up (or need foot protection), I’ve been wearing fisherman style sandals. Mostly Josef Seibel “jeremy”. This spring was too hot, and summer ain’t looking much better, to wear much more.

I wear a pair of cherry red dr. martens 1460s. They felt like tying cinder blocks to my feet when I first got them, but they've worn in SO nicely. I could walk all day in them. Let's hope they last me a few years (or decades!)
