what went wrong here

i took 12 rolls and only one had this, whole roll like this!

I'm not a Canon connoisseur, but it looks to me like the effect of wrinkled shutter curtains... Although, on second thought, if the curtains move vertically and the problem here looks like only half of the frame was exposed... there must be a problem with something else. Let's see what others have to say.

And yes, the camera will have to go to the shop, sorry. Was it recently purchased?

Nearly all Canon RFs have wrinkled shutters. Both of mine do, and no problems. Something else is going on.

It looks like capping. A simple CLA will fix it. My Canon 7 had that issue.

it had a CLA this year. :bang: i dread being without it for this long period. i gues its in warranty from the last time, but it was by Mark Hama, SLOW.

Do you know if this was the last of the 12 rolls or somewhere in the middle of the batch? It does look like a capping shutter, but also check that there is no chips of film in the curtain track. Occasionally you have these small pieces stuck and they can slow down the curtain. If it was stuck on theleading edge of the 2nd curtain it could explain the "brake" effect.

one of the later rolls. i have 2 rolls more that im waiting for processing (my local place only does E6 on fridays) i would look at it but have a roll of velvia loaded and am hesitant to waste it. ill stick with a middle speed for the rest of the roll to be safe.
