what's a Rollei 35TE worth?

I'm seeing a black Rollei 35TE on an auction site with a minimum price of $40, one hour to go and no bids. What's this thing worth? I shouldn't be spending money right now but I'm quite tempted. Is this price very good or just "ok`"???

it's not a collectors item, i.E. made in Singapore and with a Tessar lens. I bought mine new some 25 years ago, then it was some 350 DM. About 1/20th of a new Volkswagen Beatle or 1/4 of my monthly salary.

Jump on it. Not rare, but a real nice camera. I think I paid closer to $100 for mine.

Bear in mind you'll need to track down a PX27 battery for it if you want to use the meter. You probably have to look online for these (and they aren't quite the correct voltage either, so you'll need to adjust the film speed setting -- 200 rather than 400, 50 instead of 100, etc.)

I'm now the official owner of a black Rollei 35TE 🙂

Apparently it's working flawlessly, was serviced a few years ago and has a clean lens that was always protected by a UV filter. Let's just hope it's true!

$40 is a good price I think. I bought my SE for 90 Euro. And: you don't need to adjust the meter and you don't need a new PX27-Battery. Just take four silveroxid knob cells type 301. 5,6 Volt or 6 Volt doesn't matter with the Red/green light-LEDs in the viewfinder. The problematically models are the 35 the 35 T und the 35 S. If your Camera has an old PX27 in it, open it. Here is how to do:

Scroll down in the left menu to "Tipps" than take the point "Batterien", scroll down just shortly before the end of the document. There is a photo that shows how to dismatle the battery. It works! I did so for my Minox 35 GT, for my Minox C, for the two Rollei I own – never had any problem with that.

Oops! I now have recognized you'll get an adapter with your camera. Should be the Minox-adapter. This part alone is worth 25 Euro. Good deal! Congratulations!

A good price for sure. I bought a 35T with Tessar for about $90 a couple years ago. Fully-CLA'd, I was told. Yeah right. Images were quite soft. I was thinking, "Hmph! The Tessar is not nearly as good as people say!". Then I had it looked at. Some bozo had taken apart the lens elements and certainly did not put them back together again very well. Once that was fixed up the lens is TACK sharp. I think I like it's character better for B&W than the Sonnar on my Contax T2. Best of luck with your new camera!

Not because I didn't want one but because I've been buying too much stuff recently. A few weeks ago I bought 90 rolls of recently expired Portra100T 120 film for about $40 off that same auction site 😀


But now back to the Rollei. First thing on my to do list when I get it is removing the sticker with the guy's name and address 🙂

I don't know exactly why, but my father allways prefered Tessar type lenses over Sonnar and Planar types. He used Xenars and Tessars mostly from 24x24mm on a Robot II to 9x13cm on a Linhof Technika. I stuck to that and thus the Rollei 35TE as my first camera bought from self earned money 🙂

For him the Tessar was the "Eagle Eye", not the Planar.

Just got the camera today! It's quite pretty 🙂

The only part that shows some wear is the wind-on lever. Other than that it's as good as new, has the minox battery adapter, a UV-filter and a hood. I'm quite happy with my purchase.

Got mine today, paid a bit more, but then again gear is expensive in Norway.
Minox battery adapter included and recently cla´d shuttler, and the camera looks like new, same seller as the Rolleiflex F.
Looks like the day off can be nice, just took a Kodak BW400CN out of the fridge, think the M3ds stays home alone today.
