Just finished a Guinness, which gets better the closer you are to Dublin. It's true.

jorisbens sure you claim to be Belgian and all but how did Stella get your pick over Chimay Red Cap?

I'm a Belgian for sure, and I also think that Chimay red is better then Stella (allthough I prefer chimay blue grand reserve over the chimay premiere red) but I just mentioned stella because its the best Belgian pils IMHO. But for Abbey (style) beers, I prefer Westvleteren and Westmalle (Westmalle is just 10 Km away from where I live) over Chimay.

And Guinness is terrific and the best pint is the one in the "tower" of the Guinness brewery in Dublin 😉 I have just found a very nice Belgian stout "Hercule", It's expensive but its worth the money. (but its probably hard to find outside Belgium.

Just finished a quick 'late nite snack' of whole wheat pasta , w pomodoro, basil, parmagianno reggiano, black pepper, olive oil and washed down w a generous glass of Blackstone Merlot.

No sniping on the topic of merlot please..

Jan: Blackstone is a steady, good choice for merlot. Despite what Miles thought of Merlot (and a lot of merlot is dreck), good merlot is just that: good.

Wait 'till you sample the '03 from Hillebrand and other Niagara wineries. I sampled the '03 Showcase out of the barrel last year, and it is stupendous. Great depth and power, it will age beautifully for quite some time after it's released.

Budweiser (the real one, not the carbonated equine urine sold in the States)

Horse pee! no wonder they can make it so cheaply. Foster's is possum piss,
possums are a protected species (at least in Victoria), but they make white wine, champagne, horrible beer, and even billy tea from it. Unfortunately they have to get a lot of possums to pee to make as much as one horse.

Hi Trius,

I watched that movie a second time. Miles is better the second time. I'll keep a watch out for the Hille '03 thanks for the advice.

prost, Jan

btw; Right now it's a high end Oolong from Ten Ren

Tall glass, half filled with hot Mocha, 2 oz. Tequila, 2 oz. Coffee Liquor, top with whipped cream.
Ahhhhh, warms the belly on this snowy night.

Sounds good! I'm taking notes.

I suspect (and sort of hope) that that we may get our share of snowy weather this winter here in the mid-south Atlantic area. I love snow (in moderation). Usually we get ice storms, which can be disastrous.

F** water. My wife is loaded with twins and she can't afford drinking (since 7 month now!) & I have to sustain her. What a poor life... In a month or two , back to business! (At least a Montrachet to celebrate)

Can't sleep... tried sleepy-time tea earlier... then warm Milo (Aussie malt-chocolate drink)... now a large glass of Banrock Station Shiraz... Maybe I'll be up for a while longer? ... Where's that good cheese I bought yesterday...

Chimay bleue indeed 😀

I'm sorting shots to resize before uploading to RFF. I went to the big liquor store today and thought about buying something nice for myself for the holiday season.

I bought a fancy cask strength single malt scotch. Caol Isla from Islay. I'm broke, my booze budget is shot for this month but after tasting it. I'm a happy boy! Now back to resizing...

cheers, salut etc

I am drinking the finest ARROWEAD mountain spring water, vintage sometime last week...and the ARROWHEAD springs are above the inversion layer of Southern California [for those of you reading this from other than the Los Angeles basin this means that it is above the SMOG level so it is smog free water .... 🙂 ]
